• Carew Concrete & Supply Co., Inc. is looking for a Diesel Fleet Mechanic to join our Fond Du Lac facility. If you enjoy troubleshooting, fixing equipment, working with your hands, and taking pride in keeping a fleet running safely and efficiently, we want you on our team!
• This is a full-time, year-round position with plenty of variety. From routine maintenance to major repairs, you'll play an important role in keeping our trucks and equipment ready to get the job done.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain a wide range of fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, transmissions, axles, gearboxes, brakes, steering, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, including oil and fluid changes, greasing and routine inspections.
• Weld, fabricate and repair components as needed.
• Use cutting torches, welding equipment and a variety of shop tools.
• Respond to service calls and make repairs in the field when needed.
• Work closely with equipment operators and the Shop Supervisor to diagnose problems and determine efficient repair solutions.
• Communicate repair needs, expected completion times and equipment status.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
• Keep the shop, tools and work areas clean, organized and safe.
• Follow all company safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Work as part of a team to troubleshoot problems and keep equipment moving.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Mechanically minded and enjoys solving problems.
• Experienced with diesel equipment, heavy trucks or heavy machinery.
• Comfortable diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
• Able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
• Safety-focused and committed to doing the job right.
• Able to read and understand maintenance manuals, safety procedures and operating instructions.
• Willing to respond to service needs in the field.
• Equipped with safe, appropriate tools for the job.
