Architectural Designer II at VCBO Architecture in Salt Lake City, UT

Job description

• VCBO Architecture is seeking an Architectural Designer II to contribute to the design and delivery of architectural projects within a collaborative studio environment. This role is based in our Utah office and is ideal for a developing architectural professional with experience in design, documentation, and project coordination.
• You’ll contribute across multiple project phases, take increasing ownership of project responsibilities, and work alongside experienced architects and project leaders while continuing to grow your technical and design expertise.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, documentation, and coordination across multiple project phases
• Prepare drawings and models for schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
• Apply knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methods to project work
• Coordinate with internal team members and consultants on project components
• Support the preparation of client presentations, including graphics, renderings, and diagrams
• Assist with construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, and addenda
• Maintain quality, organization, and consistency in project deliverables
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members
• Collaborate with project architects and managers to meet project goals, schedules, and deadlines

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field
• Typically 3–7 years of professional architectural experience
• Proficiency in Revit; familiarity with additional design tools such as SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
• Working knowledge of building codes, construction documentation, and coordination practices
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team
• Interest in pursuing architectural licensure encouraged; licensure is not required
