Job description
- Salary Range
- The Digital Media & Web Experience Coordinator is responsible not only for keeping content current and compelling, but for ensuring that every platform functions well, feels intuitive, and faithfully represents the church’s mission. This role sits at the intersection of content, technology, and user experience.
- The ideal candidate is technically proficient, detail-oriented, and mission-driven—someone who notices when something is broken and fixes it before anyone else does, and who thinks proactively about how users experience Hillside online. They will provide ongoing digital services for Hillside’s website, mobile app, and digital platforms, supporting content accuracy, platform functionality, and user experience. A passion for using digital tools—including emerging AI technologies—to create meaningful connections and improve operational efficiency is essential.
Responsibilities
- Web & App Management (Platform Deliverables)
- Provide ongoing website and mobile app maintenance services, including identifying and addressing functionality issues within the agreed scope of services.
- Perform routine functionality audits on the website and app—identifying broken features, outdated structures, or degraded user experiences and escalating or resolving proactively.
- Coordinate with developers or platform vendors (e.g., Subsplash) to implement functionality updates, new feature rollouts, and integrations.
- Provide app configuration settings, navigation menus, and feature toggles to reflect current ministry priorities and seasonal initiatives.
- Champion accessibility and mobile-first user experience across all digital properties, ensuring content is readable, navigable, and inclusive.
- Maintain documentation of platform architecture, login credentials, and technical processes for team continuity.
- Content Management & Publishing Deliverables
- Make weekly updates to web pages, blog posts, event listings, and featured content on the Hillside website and app.
- Upload weekly sermon content to the website, app, podcast platforms, and YouTube, ensuring accurate metadata, descriptions, and tagging.
- Manage and update the events calendar and Featured Events pages across all platforms for accuracy and visual consistency.
- Oversee and update the digital signage system to ensure timely, on-brand content display throughout the campus.
- Ensure all published content meets brand, accessibility, and style standards before going live.
- Digital Systems & AI Optimization Deliverables
- Manage and optimize AI automations including chatbots, email workflows, and content scheduling systems built to increase engagement efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve or expand automation workflows that support the Communications team’s capacity and reach.
- Stay current with emerging digital and AI tools and bring forward recommendations that advance the department’s mission effectiveness.
- Analytics & Continuous Improvement Deliverables
- Monitor website and app analytics (Google Analytics, Subsplash dashboards, YouTube Studio) to surface insights about engagement, traffic, and user behavior.
- Translate analytics into actionable recommendations for content strategy, UX improvements, and platform adjustments.
- Report key digital metrics regularly to the Communications Director to inform strategic decisions.
- Team Collaboration
- Participate in Communications Team meetings as reasonably necessary for project coordination and planning.
- Collaborate with design, video, and technical teams to coordinate updates, troubleshoot cross-platform issues, and execute initiatives.
- Provide digital platform support to Hillside staff as needed within the agreed scope of services.
Requirements
- Education / Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in digital media, web management, or a related role.
- Demonstrated proficiency managing a live website or app, including both content and functional responsibilities.
- Solid understanding of web design principles, basic troubleshooting, and platform-level configurations.
- High digital fluency and the ability to learn new platforms quickly and independently.
- BA or BS in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Strong personal alignment with the vision, mission, and values of Hillside Community Church.
- Excellent relational skills with a team-first attitude and collaborative spirit.
- Highly disciplined, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
- Passionate about using digital innovation to communicate the hope of Jesus to the surrounding community.
- Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in web content management systems (WordPress, Subsplash, Squarespace, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of web functionality, basic UX principles, and mobile app management.

- Ability to create and edit basic graphic assets using Canva, Adobe Express, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) as they apply to web and app content.
- Enthusiasm for AI-powered tools and workflow automation.
