• At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you make this possible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to gather insights and create industry-leading products.
• You’ll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools.
• The Retail Ads team builds ad formats that aim to present the most useful and relevant information to assist users' shopping journeys. We work on end-to-end systems that span across backend systems and frontend rendering infrastructures. We use data heavily, relying on analytical mindset to make business decisions, and work on fun ideas, improving the experience that billions of users worldwide interact with on a daily basis, including ourselves.
• As a UX Researcher (UXR), you'll play a pivotal role in uncovering user insights and contributing to the product development process to build useful, usable and delightful product experiences. You’ll conduct qualitative and quantitative research to explore shopping journeys, understand ad product experiences, and partner cross-functionally to conceptualize and validate innovative solutions to deliver a seamless user experience. You’ll explore new solutions to the problems you identify and work with Product, Design, and Engineering to make those experiences come to life.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute a research roadmap with cross-functional stakeholders to drive impact across all stages of product development in a dynamic environment.
• Lead comprehensive research studies utilizing methods such as interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, and concept testing to uncover actionable user insights.
• Analyze user behavior data from various qualitative and quantitative sources in partnership with Quantitative UXR teammates, including logs and experiments, to inform product strategies.
• Integrate complex technical and business requirements into research plans that gather meaningful insights to create useful, usable, and delightful retail ads experiences.
• Advocate for research findings and user needs to cross-functional and leadership audiences through compelling written reports and in-person presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
• Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquires, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies).
• Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
• 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
• 3 years of experience managing projects, and working in a large, matrixed organization.

• Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
• US: $159000 - $230000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
