• Located on Vancouver Island just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is in the ancestral and unceded territories of First Nations including the Quw'utsun, Malahat, Ts'uubaa-asatx, Halalt, Penelakut, Stz'uminus, Lyackson, Pauquachin, Ditidaht, and Pacheedaht Nations. Local First Nations Peoples have stewarded the lands, waters, plants, and animals of this region since beyond time immemorial. • Reporting to the Senior Manager, Parks & Trails Division, the Manager – Parks Operations is responsible for managing the park operations and maintenance management programs including the Parks Capital Project Program; Parks Compliance & Enforcement Program, and the Risk Management Program; for both the Regional District’s community and regional parks services. The position develops and administers both short and long-range plans and schedules for parks operation and maintenance programs, coordinates and supervises contractors and parks employees, liaises with stakeholders and the public, prepares park operations, maintenance and capital development budgets, reviews cost estimates for parks projects, and programs, and develops park-related policies. The position represents management interests in dealings with unionized staff and is excluded from collective bargaining.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university (i.e. Landscape Horticulture, Parks Operations/Administration, Natural Resource Management and Conservation, Environmental Studies)
• Six (6) years of related progressive experience in parks operations, maintenance and project management including three (3) years experience in supervision, preferably in a local government setting
• A valid Class 5 BC Drivers License
• First Aid Level 1 with CPR
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Benefits

• Salary range of $116,164.93 to $135,807.016 per year (2026 salary range), commensurate with education, training and experience. Also included is a c omprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, and insurance benefits, pension, and paid vacation.
