- This is a build-from-zero opportunity. The Sirens have already banked 12,000 season ticket membership initial payments and run over 40 community events reaching more than 3,500 girls across the region, but the marketing organization, fan base and inaugural-season plan are still being built. The VP, Marketing will be one of the first senior hires shaping how Cleveland and the WNBA come to know this team.
- The Vice President, Marketing will lead brand, content, social and integrated campaign strategy for the Cleveland Sirens, working side by side with the Cavaliers' and REG's broader marketing, communications, partnerships, ticketing and community relations teams. This role requires someone equally comfortable setting a multi-year brand vision and rolling up their sleeves to shape a launch campaign, a jersey reveal, or a game-day activation on a tight runway. You'll help build the team and the marketing function, leveraging resources within Rock Entertainment Group, extending the positive growth seen from brand launch.
- A Sirens brand identity system and content engine that's fully built out and consistently applied in-arena, on social, and across REG platforms.
- A marketing team hired, onboarded and ready to execute the inaugural season launch.
- A season ticket membership base that's converting and growing beyond the initial 12,000+ payments.
- Strong working relationships across Partnerships, Ticket Sales, Retail, Community Relations and the Cavaliers/REG marketing organization.
Responsibilities
- Own the Cleveland Sirens brand: set the marketing strategy and creative vision that builds awareness, deepens fan engagement, and drives measurable business results through the inaugural season and beyond.
- Champion the organization’s brand identity, visual identity, voice, and messaging guidelines and ensure consistency across all channels.
- Oversee all marketing functions including digital marketing, content, game presentation, and brand management with dotted lines to REG leaders.
- Use consumer research and fan data to drive decisions. Partner with REG's Market Research Committee to define the Sirens research agenda, interpret brand health and fan survey data, and translate findings into marketing action rather than treating research as a passive input.
- Build fan journeys from first touch through repeat attendance. Help design lifecycle marketing strategies across the prospect-to-member continuum, including automated trigger-based campaigns, coordinated touchpoints across digital, email, in-arena, and community channels, and the use of AI tools to improve efficiency, personalization, and decision-making across the marketing function.
- Grow the Sirens fan base with intention. Ensure marketing efforts across community events, ticket sales, digital, and in-arena activations are building a known, reachable fan base.
- Develop and own the strategy for Sirens tentpole moments (i.e. Mascot Reveal, Basketball Ops Announcements, etc.) and communicate strategic plans to the broader organization with clear KPIs and success metrics.
- Plan and execute integrated campaigns across digital, social, content, broadcast, out-of-home and in-arena channels, with consistent positioning across all of them.
- Partner with Corporate Partnerships to build marketing assets that support existing partners and help win new ones; partner with Ticket Sales & Membership on campaigns that convert initial payments into full season ticket memberships, and partner with Retail to drive annual goals and foot traffic.
- Establish and co-lead influencer networking program with REG leaders to expand brand affinity, audience, and ROI.
- Collaborate with Community Relations, RESN, Events, Game Presentation and Rocket Arena operations so brand and fan experience are consistent from the website to the concourse.
- Build and manage the marketing budget and ensure effective allocation of resources across channels.
- Establish and track KPIs to measure marketing effectiveness and ROI as well as present marketing performance, strategy and recommendations to leadership.
- Participate in hiring, coaching and growing a team from the ground up: this is a founding leadership role, and the org chart is still being written.
- Lead marketing for signature Sirens moments: the 2027 jersey launch, inaugural season promotion, and the arena and digital rollout of the Sirens identity across Rocket Arena and REG platforms.
- Oversee and manage the Manager, Integrated Marketing for the Cleveland Sirens.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related field required.
- 10+ years of marketing leadership experience in sports, entertainment or another high-profile consumer brand; WNBA, NBA or women's sports experience strongly preferred, along with 3+ years in leadership role.
- 5+ years managing and developing marketing, content or creative teams.
- A track record of building or relaunching a brand, expansion team, launch, or category-creation experience is a significant plus.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar marketing budgets and agency/vendor relationships.
- Fluency in both brand-building and performance marketing.
- A genuine understanding of basketball, the WNBA landscape, and what makes a fan base show up.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, and the judgment to represent the Sirens brand externally.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment where priorities and opportunities can evolve quickly.
