• About the Role: The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains scalable data architecture and infrastructure that supports Unite Us’ business objectives and the needs of both healthcare and social care clients.
• As part of a collaborative team of talented engineers, this role partners closely with Application Engineers, Product Managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions, including ETL pipelines and data warehouse integrations.
• This work is critical to collecting, processing, and delivering data to internal and external stakeholders, enabling informed investment decisions, quantifying the value and ROI of Unite Us networks, and supporting continued organizational growth across healthcare and social care domains.
• The Senior Data Engineer champions data integrity and accessibility, contributes to system architecture and technical best practices, and provides operational support through customer onboarding and on-call participation—helping establish Unite Us as a trusted leader across the healthcare and social care landscape while making a meaningful impact nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Design / implement a data architecture and infrastructure aligned with business objectives
• Collaborate with Application Engineers, Product Managers, and Solutions Architects to ensure data systems or technical infrastructure support client and product requirements
• Develop, create, and maintain ETL processes and data pipeline solutions for efficient loading of data into the data warehouse
• Test, monitor, and optimize data pipelines or ETL solutions to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability
• Collect and validate high-quality data
• Ensure data integrity and maintain strong data governance standards
• Champion data democratization and enable or facilitate accessibility to well-documented data for relevant stakeholders
• Guide the team or engineering teams on technical or data engineering best practices
• Contribute to system or platform architecture
• Support operational activities such as onboarding new customers to data products
• Participate in team on-call rotations
• Partner or engage with cross-functional teams, including Solutions Delivery, Business Intelligence, Predictive Analytics, and Enterprise Services
• Address, resolve, or support data-related technical issues or requirement

Requirements

• 6–8+ years of experience designing, building, and operating data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines in production environments
• Proven experience building, designing, or optimizing data pipelines using Snowflake
• Experience using data transformation tools like DBT
• Proven expertise architecting and optimizing batch and streaming data pipelines
• Advanced SQL knowledge, including complex query authoring and familiarity with relational databases such as Snowflake, Redshift, and Postgres
• Strong proficiency in Python for building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines and services
• Experience with orchestration frameworks such as Apache Airflow
• Exposure to or experience with AWS and cloud services such as S3, ECS, and RDS, including building cloud-native data platforms
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for testing, deployment, and release (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Experience with infrastructure and data tooling including Kubernetes, Terraform, and Docker
• Exposure to or experience with Kafka
• Experience developing or delivering data platforms or applications for large enterprise clients
• Background or previous engagement with healthcare and/or social determinants of health (SDOH) data products, including designing, building, or maintaining pipelines for healthcare claims and clinical data, with an understanding of data quality, scale, sensitivity, and compliance requirements in this space
• Experience designing high-performance, reliable systems, including exposure to operational best practices
• Exposure to or experience with data quality frameworks
• Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or data user tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, ThoughtSpot, Sigma)
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve complex data issues and system failures, and to lead technical investigations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and non-technical stakeholders
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• The target pay range for this role is: $145,000-$175,000. This salary range represents our target hiring range for this role. The proposed salary will be dependent on the candidate's skills, experience, and competencies, as well as location.
