- The Human Resources Generalist is an important part of the Agate team and helps create a positive experience for employees from their first interaction with us through every stage of their employment. This is a hands-on, people-focused role that touches many areas of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits, compliance, and day-to-day employee support.
- You'll be someone employees and applicants can count on-answering questions, solving problems, keeping things organized, and helping make sure our HR processes work smoothly. You'll work closely with staff and leaders across the organization, build relationships, and help create a workplace where people feel welcomed, supported, and valued.

Responsibilities
- • Coordinate recruitment activities including posting positions, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, conducting initial candidate screens, and preparing hiring documentation.
- • Coordinate background checks, employment verifications, and other pre-employment requirements.
- • Prepare offer letters and onboarding materials.
- • Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding processes.
- • Teach classes and develop curriculum with thought leaders.
- • Participate in job fairs and recruitment events as assigned.
- • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel and recruitment files, employee records & HR Administration
- • Process employee paperwork including new hires, transfers, promotions, status changes, leaves of absence, and separations.
- • Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
- • Prepare employment verification requests and HR correspondence.
- • Conduct periodic audits of personnel files and HR records.
- • Assist employees with HR-related questions and requests.
- • Support enrollment and administration of employee benefit programs.
- • Assist employees with benefit-related questions and leave requests.
- • Coordinate leave administration and maintain appropriate documentation.
- • Prepare and process payroll-related employment changes and supporting documentation.
- • Ensure accurate employee information is maintained in payroll and HR systems.
- • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.
- • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- • Support HR leadership in maintaining positive labor-management relationships.
- • Assist with documentation and administrative activities related to collective bargaining agreement processes.
- • Ensure compliance with established labor policies and procedures.
- • Assist with workers' compensation claims and maintain required documentation.
- • Serve as a liaison between the HR Associate Director, employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators.
- • Monitor claim activity and ensure timely reporting and follow-up.
- • Lead safety committee meetings, setting agendas and execute safety initiatives.
- • Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- • Maintain required employment documentation including I-9 records.
- • Prepare reports and documentation for audits, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- • Support implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- • Maintain HR systems, databases, and tracking tools.
- • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives.
- • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department as assigned.
- • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- • Minimum of 2-3 years of Human Resources experience, with demonstrated experience in recruiting, onboarding, employee records management, and HR administration preferred.
- • Experience in a nonprofit, housing, healthcare, or human services environment preferred.
- • Experience working in a union environment preferred but not required.
- • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
- • Experience maintaining confidential employee information and personnel records.
- • Ability to prepare professional correspondence, reports, and employment documentation.
- • Knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- • Experience supporting benefits administration and leave management preferred.
- • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a team member.
- • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional internal customer service.
- • Must provide excellent professional references.
