• Join Golden Valley Electric Association as an Accountant III – Power Supply in Fairbanks, Alaska, and play a key role in supporting the financial operations of GVEA's Power Supply Division. You will provide accounting and financial analysis support for plant operations, including budgeting, forecasting, regulatory reporting, project accounting, inventory, and financial reporting.
• This position works closely with plant managers and accounting leadership to analyze operating costs, maintain accurate financial records, support capital projects, strengthen internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting. You will also work with large datasets and financial systems to provide meaningful financial information that supports operational decision-making.

• As the Accountant III – Power Supply, you will provide financial and accounting support to GVEA's Power Supply Division while ensuring accurate records and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• You will analyze plant operating costs and statistics, assist with budgeting and forecasting, prepare regulatory and financial reports, reconcile accounts, and support plant inventory and capital project accounting. You will also assist with audits, monitor internal controls, analyze large datasets, and identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, and business processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial and accounting support to GVEA's Power Supply Division while ensuring accurate records and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Analyze plant operating costs and statistics, assist with budgeting and forecasting, prepare regulatory and financial reports, reconcile accounts, and support plant inventory and capital project accounting.
• Assist with audits, monitor internal controls, analyze large datasets, and identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, and business processes.

Requirements

• Candidates should have a strong accounting background with experience in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and complex accounting systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and reporting.
• Experience with integrated financial systems, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and project accounting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Valid Alaska driver's license.
• CPA or CMA is preferred.
