Job description

• The Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance
• of ABM’s network infrastructure, with a primary focus on Data Center networking and
• secondary responsibility for remote office, cloud, security, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity
• (Cloud OnRamp), network automation, and secure access platforms.
• This role contributes to delivering reliable, scalable, and secure network platforms,
• ensuring the performance and availability of ABM’s IT systems. The Network Engineer
• works closely with the Network Services team, Solution Architects, Enterprise
• Architects, Infrastructure Project Managers, and Information Security teams to
• implement network solutions aligned with ABM standards and architectural designs.

Responsibilities

• Network Engineering, Security, Automation & Operations
• - Support ABM Data Center network infrastructure as part of the engineering
• team.
• - Implement, configure, maintain, and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 production
• networks, including connectivity between data centers, cloud environments,
• and remote sites.
• - Support Cloud OnRamp connectivity for Azure and AWS.
• - Support, operate, and integrate network security and edge platforms, including:
• o Cisco ASA
• o Palo Alto Networks
• o Zscaler
• o Fortinet full-stack technologies, including FortiGate, FortiManager,
• FortiAnalyzer, FortiClient, and FortiSASE
• - Assist in the deployment and support of SD-WAN solutions.
• - Execute network automation tasks to support provisioning, configuration
• management, validation, and troubleshooting.
• - Monitor network and security performance, troubleshoot issues, and escalate
• complex problems as needed.
• - Manage network and security device configurations, firmware, and software
• upgrades using established processes.
• - Participate in a weekly on-call rotation supporting the production network.
• Design, Standards & Architecture
• - Follow established network, security, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, Fortinet
• platform, automation standards and best practices.
• - Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations,
• procedures, and operational runbooks.
• - Assist in identifying opportunities to improve standardization and reduce
• technical debt.
• Design, Standards & Architecture
• - Follow established network, security, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, Fortinet
• platform, automation standards and best practices.
• - Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations,
• procedures, and operational runbooks.
• - Assist in identifying opportunities to improve standardization and reduce
• technical debt.
• Project Delivery & Lifecycle Management
• - Support delivery of network and security components for initiatives, including
• data center builds, site builds, refreshes, SD-WAN deployments, Cloud OnRamp
• implementations, and modernization projects.
• - Assist in data center builds and migration efforts, including exposure to
• technologies such as VXLAN and Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV).
• - Operate within a Plan / Build / Operate model (primarily focused on building and
• operating activities).
• - Participate in lifecycle management activities to ensure stable and supportable
• network and security services.
• Collaboration & Support
• - Provide operational support through ServiceNow incidents, requests, and
• troubleshooting activities.
• - Collaborate with Information Security, systems, applications, cloud, and IT
• support teams.
• - Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement
• - Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in
• networking, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, automation, and network security.
• - Support evaluation and implementation of improvements to network and
• operational practices.
• - Participate in team knowledge sharing and skill development.
• - Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Required Experience & Skills
• - 3–5+ years of experience in Network Engineering, with experience in Data Center
• or enterprise networking environments.
• o Cisco technologies (Nexus, ASR/ISR)
• o SD-WAN solutions and Cloud OnRamp concepts
• o Cloud connectivity for Azure and AWS
• o Network security platforms, including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks,
• Zscaler, and Fortinet technologies
• o Load balancers, WAN, and wireless technologies (basic experience)
• - Experience supporting network automation using tools such as Ansible,
• Terraform, Python, or similar frameworks.
• - Strong knowledge of networking and routing protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP,
• OSPF, and related technologies (VPN, LAN, WAN, WLAN).
• - Experience supporting Layer 2 and Layer 3 network environments.
• - Proven troubleshooting skills across network, cloud connectivity, and security
• environments.
• - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• - Effective communication skills with the ability to work independently and within
• a team environment.
• - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Systems Analysis, or a related field, or
• equivalent work experience.
• - Ability to verify legal authorization to work.
• - Ability to read, speak, and understand English proficiently.
• - Ability to comply with ABM policies, including Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
• - Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable
• accommodation.
• - Cisco certification (CCNA or CCNP) or equivalent experience.
• - Fortinet certifications (NSE 4 or equivalent experience).
• - Security certifications or experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, or
• Zscaler platforms.
• - Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) or other NAC solutions.
• - Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
• - Experience with cloud networking in Azure and AWS (VPC/VNet, routing,
• security, connectivity).
• - Exposure to automation or DevNet tools (APIs, scripting, or CI/CD concepts).
• - Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds Orion).
• - Basic experience with QoS, Multicast, and traffic analysis tools (NetFlow, packet
• capture).
