• Medical Director – NJ Licensed Physician
• Passaic, NJ - Onsite
• Part Time
• Schedule: Up to 19 hours per week, as needed
• Client is seeking a New Jersey Licensed Physician to serve as Medical Director for its NJVFC, 317-Funded Adult, and COVID-19 vaccination clinic programs. The physician will provide medical oversight, patient evaluations, vaccination services, public-health consultation, and clinical guidance to Health Department staff, nurses, and the Health Officer.
• The physician will work for up to 19 hours per week, as needed, and must remain available to the Health Officer and nursing staff when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical evaluations and examinations of clinic patients.
• Review medical reports and, when necessary, communicable disease reports, and advise staff regarding medical matters.
• Serve as a medical consultant to the Health Officer and public-health nursing staff.
• Administer required and ACIP-recommended vaccines to clinic patients and citizens of Passaic.
• Perform capillary and venous lead testing, including pediatric lead screening.
• Issue standing orders to nursing staff for the administration of immunizations, medications, and other procedures when appropriate.
• Provide hepatitis B, COVID-19, influenza, and pneumococcal vaccination services.
• Make medical decisions regarding vaccinations and public-health clinical services.
• Provide referrals to other licensed physicians or specialists when patients require follow-up or additional medical care.
• Issue prescriptions for medications and/or supplements as needed.
• Attend meetings or other events when directed by the Health Officer.
• Remain available to the Health Officer and nursing staff when needed.
• Support compliance with the NJVFC, 317-Funded Adult, and CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Program Provider Agreements.
• Submit physician bills no later than the 5th day of the month for services rendered during the previous month.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
• Clinical specialty in Pediatrics.
• Active New Jersey medical license in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a physician with a local health department clinic.
• Professional experience with Child Health Conference (CHC) services.
• Professional experience with Vaccine for Children (VFC) programs.
• Professional experience with 317-Funded Adult clinical services.
• Experience providing consultation and guidance to a local Health Officer regarding public-health and medical matters.
• Experience providing hepatitis B immunizations and evaluating hepatitis B antibody reports.
• Experience issuing standing orders to public-health nursing personnel.
• Experience providing influenza, pneumococcal, and COVID-19 vaccinations through mass immunization clinics.
• Experience performing capillary and venous pediatric lead screenings.
• Experience with communicable disease reporting, NJIIS, epidemiology, and disease control in a local health department setting.
