Job description

• The Operations Associate supports the daily service operations and complimentary needs of camp, ensuring that all members, their families, and staff receive support in the following areas- Check in/arrival services, greeting members and families, providing exemplary customer service, assisting families with luggage, escorting families to their rooms, assistance with activity facilitation, and set up and restoration of campgrounds before and after event has concluded. Reporting to the Camp Director, this role involves cabin preparation for members and families, meal distribution during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack times, camp wide cleanliness, and adherence to camp wide safety protocols. The Operations Associate plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of positive atmosphere, sanitation and organization of camp wide activity spaces, cabins, and welcome center, and provides overall support to all Operational needs of camp.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, Inventory, & Record-Keeping
• Welcome families and usher them to our check–in services provided at the Welcome Center.
• Prepare members and families with all materials needed for their stay; blankets, pillows, lanterns, room placements, and Family Welcome Packets.
• Help track inventory supplies and assist the Associate Director and Camp Administration Manager in maintaining inventory records for cabin supplies, office supplies, and activity supplies.
• Maintain cleanly and orderly program areas
• Activity Spaces & Member Engagement
• Prepare activity spaces for incoming members and families
• Stock with all necessary materials required to run activity
• Break down and restore activity spaces for future use
• Keep track of activity space materials and supplies
• Communicate with members and families about scheduling and activity options
• Meal Service & Facility Assistance
• Support the setup of food, supplies, napkins, and utensils for meal service in the dining hall.
• Support the Facilities Manager in setting up and restoring cabins- pertaining to moving and lifting furniture, counting inventory and storing back within supply room(s).
• Assist in the distribution and serving of meals to members and families, in accordance with the camp kitchen team, including dining hall set up, restoration, and dish washing.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of food service areas in dining hall, storage spaces, and dishwashing stations.
• Ensure proper disposal of food scraps and garbage in designated areas.

Requirements

• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to foster a positive, welcoming atmosphere for other staff, members, and families
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, camp environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and order
• One summer of previous employment with Harriman Basecamp
• Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, including supplies, equipment, and furniture
• Physical endurance to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to pass physical exam, and meet immunization requirements (including MMR vaccines).
