Job description

• We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Transmission Project Managers to oversee the successful planning, execution, and delivery of electric transmission projects. This role is responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing project schedules and budgets, mitigating risks, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
• The ideal candidate combines strong project leadership skills with a deep understanding of transmission systems, utility operations, engineering processes, and capital project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of transmission projects, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout activities.
• Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource plans.
• Coordinate with engineering, environmental, permitting, construction, and operations teams to ensure project success.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, leadership teams, customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while proactively resolving issues that may impact project objectives.
• Monitor project performance and provide regular status updates, forecasts, and executive-level reporting.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Manage contractor and vendor performance to ensure quality, cost control, and schedule adherence.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices in project delivery.
• Support strategic planning efforts and contribute to the development of transmission infrastructure programs.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience managing utility, transmission, energy infrastructure, or large-scale capital projects.
• Proven experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Strong knowledge of transmission systems, utility operations, and project delivery methodologies.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and risk management processes.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
• Experience with transmission line, substation, and grid modernization projects in the US and/or Canada.
• Knowledge of NERC, FERC, and utility regulatory requirements.
• Experience working within investor-owned utilities, EPC firms, or energy infrastructure organizations.

Skills

Preferred

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• The salary range for this full-time role is $150-180k per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package.  Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
