• Here's an exciting opportunity to develop and manage communications that will guide one of the nation's premier national security laboratories through a major, multiyear transformation. Los Alamos National Laboratory's Business Management Directorate encompasses essential financial and administrative functions and is central to accomplishing the Laboratory's national security mission. As a Business Systems Communications Lead, you will oversee and develop strategic and tactical communications for an important organizational change management component of the Lab's effort to replace its legacy ERP business system with a modern enterprise platform. This transformation will improve workflows and unify processes and data under SAP S/4HANA, including integrating customized applications across organizations, and support more efficient, data-driven operations.
• Working in tandem with the Program Change Manager, this role serves as a key communications advisor to project leadership, workstream leads, system integrator partners, and engagement teams. You will lead communications planning across multiple workstreams and execute and deploy implementation strategies, helping teams anticipate communications needs and engage employees Lab-wide throughout the transition. The Communications Lead will also collaborate with critical internal partner organizations and external stakeholders throughout the project's implementation.
• You will coordinate the efforts of Lab multi-media staff, contribute to content development for internal audiences, including employees, managers, and other stakeholders, across a variety of channels, and maintain communication protocols across the program team. Functional team members and organizational business communications will look to you for collaboration and support. In this role, you will help maintain consistent messaging and manage key communications vehicles, ensuring employees receive clear, timely information about upcoming changes, how staff may be affected, and how they will be supported and prepared for the transition to the new system.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic and tactical communications for an organizational change management component of the Lab's effort to replace its legacy ERP business system with a modern enterprise platform
• Lead communications planning across multiple workstreams and execute and deploy implementation strategies
• Coordinate the efforts of Lab multi-media staff, contribute to content development for internal audiences across a variety of channels, and maintain communication protocols across the program team
• Help maintain consistent messaging and manage key communications vehicles, ensuring employees receive clear, timely information about upcoming changes

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of English grammar and punctuation, and extensive experience in editing and writing
• Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Word, and a baseline understanding of generative AI tools, prompt engineering, evaluating AI-generated content for accuracy and quality, and applying AI responsibly within organizational policies
• Strong communication skills and project management experience with large, enterprise-wide initiatives
• Excellent writing and editing ability, with sound judgment and the ability to work as a trusted partner to leadership
• Proficiency in assessing challenges and creating and executing multi-channel communication campaigns that achieve specific, measurable goals
• Experience working with executive-level leaders on a wide variety of projects and products, with the ability to capture an executive's voice and create successful communication materials, such as quotes or correspondence, without significant oversight
• A track record of strategically integrating multimedia content (photos, video, and graphics) into campaigns that reach any audience and drive results
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a physical, life, or social science, and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior work on a multi-functional, large-scale business transformation project involving SAP S/4HANA is required
• Some experience leading and coordinating cross-functional teams with diverse skillsets and organizational backgrounds to support key business objectives is helpful
• S. Citizenship required, must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a physical, life, or social science required, and 12+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior experience on a multi-functional, large-scale business transformation project involving SAP S/4HANA required
• Must be able to work onsite 3 days per week in Santa Fe or Los Alamos, NM; candidates preferably within a 2 hour ground commute

• Experience with procedures and other process or policy documents related to facility operations
• Ability to recognize and coordinate responses to potential third-party relationships that may be affected by the project

• Preference given to candidates who have previously worked on a multi-functional, large-scale business transformation project
