Job description

• Ethos is seeking an experienced Lead Compliance Analyst. This role requires deep analytical skills to drive the identification of compliance risk and actionable insights across various data sources. This role requires expertise in at least one compliance domain, with growing proficiency in a second. A successful candidate will be fully self-sufficient, with the judgment to operate with minimal oversight, and be capable of designing and improving processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large, disparate data sets to identify compliance risk trends, control gaps, outliers, and emerging exposures, and quantify their significance for the business
• Build, maintain and evolve recurring risk analytics: dashboards, key risk indicators, and monitoring queries that give leadership a continuous view rather than a point-in-time snapshot.
• Translate findings into analyses and verbal briefings for compliance leadership and business stakeholders
• Lead responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations from initial scoping through final submission, continuously improving the intake and documentation process, and analyzing inquiry trends for early insight into regulatory focus and emerging risk
• Coordinate with key stakeholders to lead the annual third party administrator license renewal process, including identifying and resolving jurisdictional and/or procedural complications
• Support the ongoing evolution of the company’s compliance program as the business continues to scale and embark on new initiatives which may present novel risks
• Evaluate current policies and procedures and independently design, propose, and implement new or enhanced practices with limited oversight
• Independently define and lead at least one major team initiative per quarter

Requirements

• 5+ years of regulatory and/or insurance compliance, risk, or audit experience, with demonstrated depth in at least one functional area (e.g., data privacy, AI, sales practices, marketing/advertising) and growing expertise in a second
• Deep analytical skills: the ability to draw data from many different systems and sources, connect it into a coherent view, and identify the risk patterns and insights that aren't visible in any single data set on its own
• Proven ability to operate independently and drive outcomes with little day-to-day oversight; track record of building or materially improving compliance processes, not just following them
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior stakeholders
• Strong ability to actively identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, considers stakeholder management for all key initiatives, and understands and works to overcome what is needed to gain buy-in
• Experience acting as a trusted advisor to business partners on compliance matters, including in ambiguous or first-of-their-kind situations
• Demonstrates intellectual rigor by knowing the right questions to ask, building an approach to gather the data to answer them, and adjusting strategy accordingly
• When faced with ambiguity or adversity, ability to demonstrate a solutions-oriented mindset by developing a plan of action and being able to help others do the same
• Proficiency using Google and MS Office tools
• Expertise in life insurance products and industry laws/regulations/rules is strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in risk management, business, marketing,or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
