Transportation Designer at Dillon in CA-ON-Ottawa

• We are seeking a Transportation Designer to join our Transportation Infrastructure team in a full-time, hybrid role based out of any of our Ontario offices. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will provide technical and design support on preliminary and detailed transportation projects for the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and local municipalities. In this position, you will also have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
• This is a new position and can be based at any one of our following offices: Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto, Vaughn, Oakville, Hamilton, London, Kitchener, Chatham, or Windsor. Responsibilities

• Technical Project Work
• Assist project managers with coordination of transportation projects
• Transportation drafting using CADD software
• Assist with site investigations and condition assessments
• Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists and administrative support staff
• Business Development
• Contribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
• Participation in the Early Career Development program
• Learning & Development
• Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
• Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
• Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Requirements

• A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology
• Licensed to practice as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months or registered as a civil engineering technologist in the province of Ontario or eligible to be registered within six months
• One to two years’ work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset, however, new graduates will be considered
• Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of industry standards, specifications and good engineering practices
• Understand project design and implementation activities, including: development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering and contract administration
• Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads software will be considered an asset
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills

Benefits

• $63,600 - $95,500

It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region.
