Job description

• The Vice President - Enterprise Risk Management will provide key leadership in identifying, assessing, and managing risk across the Credit Union to ensure the risk exposure is aligned to strategic objectives, risk profile and regulator expectations. This position will collaborate with senior management, business units, and regulators to develop and implement effective risk management frameworks, policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and execute on strategy to mature the enterprise risk management program to align with the size, complexity and risk profile of the credit union
• Coordinate processes that identify, assess, and prioritize enterprise risks that may affect the credit union's performance
• Prepare and present risk reports to senior leadership, risk committees, and the Board of Directors, including the timely communication of emerging risks, mitigation strategies, and overall risk exposure
• Responsible for risk related matters in relation to NCUA exams (with CRO)
• Monitor industry trends and emerging risks to inform ERM program and reporting
• Lead the processes that maintain the risk appetite framework, ensuring risks are managed within acceptable limits (risk appetite and tolerance)
• Maintain strong relationships with leaders through the credit union as well as key business units (e.g. legal, regulatory compliance, IT, finance, operations) to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management practices
• Serve as liaison and support for risk committees
• Promote a strong risk culture throughout the credit union by developing risk training, participating in risk committees and key risk related initiatives
• Design and enhance second line oversight and monitoring programs
• Direct staff and initiatives that support risk management programs including risk governance, third party risk management, model risk management, operational, credit risk management, and financial risk management
• Monitor operational performance, analyze loan portfolio performance, etc. and engage in discussions with leadership and/or recommend actions in response to identified risks or emerging risk trends
• Responsible for coordination and management of insurance program
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to direct reports

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum of 5 years job-related experience OR 10+ years of job-related experience in lieu of degree
• Minimum 5 years of job-related management experience
• Financial institution industry knowledge
• Strong knowledge of credit risk, credit underwriting, portfolio management, and credit analytics
• Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong leadership, staff management, and project management skills
• Strong relationship building and problem solving skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory safety and soundness principles for financial institutions larger than $10 billion in assets to include corporate risk governance, credit risk management, model risk management, new products and services management, capital markets, stress testing and capital planning
• Financial Risk Manager (FRM, Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Certified Enterprise Risk Manager (CERP) professional designation is a plus
• Risk management related certification a plus
