• Overview
• The Sales Engineer will work closely with Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and customers to translate transformer specifications into accurate, manufacturable solutions. This role requires the ability to interpret technical requirements, evaluate product options, support bill of material development, communicate complex transformer design considerations, and provide timely technical and commercial support throughout the quotation and sales process.
• This role will be hybrid in Athens, GA. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers by identifying technical needs and recommending transformer solutions, adaptations, options, equipment, and services that align with customer specifications and ERMCO capabilities.
• Review customer specifications, RFQs, drawings, data sheets, and technical documents to identify transformer requirements, exceptions, options, accessories, and engineering considerations needed to develop a complete and accurate quote.
• Respond to daily and blanket RFQs for transformer requests quickly and accurately by reviewing customer requirements, coordinating technical clarifications, selecting appropriate product configurations, and preparing complete quotation inputs.
• Support the development and validation of transformer bills of material by understanding core transformer components, electrical and mechanical options, accessories, customer-specific requirements, and plant capabilities.
• Evaluate requested transformer designs against standard product offerings, engineering constraints, material availability, manufacturing capabilities, and site-specific limitations; identify exceptions or alternate solutions when customer requirements cannot be met as written.
• Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare, and execute strategic opportunities in complex sales cycles, including technical review, customer clarification, and alignment of proposed solutions with pricing and margin objectives.
• Develop product, configuration, or program recommendations for customers and support successful sales by clearly communicating technical fit, value, pricing considerations, and benefits.
• Understand costing, pricing inputs, and margin impacts in order to support competitive quotations while helping maximize profitability.
• Champion both internal and external customers by balancing customer needs, technical feasibility, plant capabilities, and the strategic goals of the company.
• Prepare detailed customer presentations that explain product information, transformer options, pricing, technical considerations, and benefits in a clear and professional manner.
• Meet volume and margin objectives through accurate quotation support, timely customer response, technical problem-solving, and effective coordination with Sales, Pricing, Engineering, and Operations.
• Respond to customer requests for technical assistance by explaining transformer design options, clarifying specification requirements, resolving quotation questions, and coordinating with Engineering when additional technical review is required.
• Support Strategic Alliance initiatives by providing technical and commercial input, participating in customer discussions, and helping ensure proposed solutions align with contractual, operational, and customer expectations.
• Facilitate customer and plant visits as required by supporting technical discussions, product reviews, manufacturing tours, and follow-up actions related to customer requirements or quotation activity.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience managing customer relationships and accounts.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
• Collaborative team player with a customer-focused mindset and commitment to supporting organizational objectives.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
• Experience with transformer technologies preferred.
• Experience with chiller systems and solar energy technologies preferred.
