Job description

• Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is seeking a skilled, passionate community member to lead a 4-week STEM & Robotics enrichment module for local homeschool students, ages 6–14, with support from MBCPR staff. Classes should be hands-on and accessible, introducing students to basic science, technology, engineering, and math concepts through activities like simple robotics, coding basics, simple machines, and guided experiments.

Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers a structured 4-week STEM/robotics curriculum with clear, age-appropriate learning goals
• Prepares and organizes lesson materials, kits, and equipment for each session
• Guides students through hands-on building, coding, or experimentation safely and effectively
• Maintains a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment for mixed-age groups
• Communicates with the Educational Program Coordinator regarding attendance, supply needs, and student concerns
• Serves as a point of contact for parents regarding class content and student progress
• Adheres to MBCPR safety procedures and reports incidents promptly

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age minimum
• Plan and teach a 4-week class series in STEM, robotics, or a related technical field
• Comfortable guiding mixed-age students through hands-on building, coding, or experiment-based activities
• Provide simple, achievable learning goals appropriate for ages 6–14
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
• Communicate material and equipment needs (kits, tools, tech access) to the Educational Program Coordinator
• Follow all MBCPR policies and safety procedures
