Evolution offers Property and Casualty insurance products through a dedicated wholesale distribution model, delivering specialized underwriting expertise and solutions across multiple business lines.
• As a Senior Underwriter II, Wholesale Casualty, you will play a key role in developing and managing a profitable portfolio of E&S casualty business with a primary emphasis on General Liability risks. Based in the Chicago area, you'll partner closely with wholesale brokers to drive profitable growth while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• This is a hybrid role, requiring regular in-office collaboration and broker engagement throughout the Chicago market.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal E&S General Liability business within established authority levels.
• Build and manage a profitable portfolio of middle-market casualty accounts.
• Develop strong relationships with wholesale broker partners across the Midwest.
• Evaluate risk exposures, pricing adequacy, coverage structures, and account profitability.
• Drive new business production while achieving underwriting and portfolio objectives.
• Maintain adherence to underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and referral processes.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Product, Finance, and Operations teams.
• Support regional growth initiatives and expand Everest's presence within the wholesale marketplace.
• Monitor competitive market trends and broker opportunities within the Chicago territory.

Requirements

• 5-10+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience.
• Strong expertise underwriting General Liability risks.
• Experience working within the E&S, surplus lines, specialty, or wholesale market.
• Demonstrated success managing broker relationships and growing a profitable book of business.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
• Experience negotiating pricing, terms, and coverage structures.
• Strong General Liability underwriting expertise.
• Relationship-driven underwriting approach.
• Excellent broker development and territory management capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective negotiation and sales aptitude.
• Ability to evaluate risk while balancing growth and profitability objectives.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and portfolio management skills.
• Wholesale distribution experience.
• Excess Casualty or Primary Casualty experience.
• Construction, manufacturing, habitational, real estate, energy, transportation, or other complex casualty exposures.
• CPCU, AU, ASLI, ARM, or similar insurance designations.

Benefits

• The base salary range for this position is $137,000 - $165,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
