Responsibilities
- The Medical Support Assistant shall perform receptionist functions in support of Veterans Health Administration, including but not limited to:
- Screens and receives phone calls in a courteous and timely manner
- Responds to telephone inquiries regarding delivery of services
- Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, pre- and post- appointment contacts as required
- Receive medical records and ensure all necessary health and administrative information are processed into the proper Records Systems
- Coordinates and authorizes care with external community care providers
- Access computers to utilize Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel, and various electronic systems
- Process community care consults in associated electronic systems
- Effectively communicates with internal and external medical providers, reception staff, patients, and other third parties
- Provide friendly and quality customer service to all patients, patient families, office and medical staff
- Various front desk administrative duties, as needed
Requirements
- Education & Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Minimum of 6 months of customer service experience
- Ability to type 50 WPM
- Possess basic computer skills
- Oral and written proficiency in English
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust/Suitability Clearance
- Must be a United States citizen
