Senior Billing & Revenue Accountant at Carta in London, United Kingdom

Job description

• As a key member of the accounting team, this position will collaborate closely with the Revenue team and Controller to support Carta’s revenue operations. In this role, you will join a highly dynamic team dedicated to driving Carta’s growth and developing new processes. We are seeking an experienced professional to assist with revenue recording and reconciliation, as well as conducting technical accounting analysis of contracts for revenue recognition. This position will serve as a key liaison between the accounting team and various departments, including sales, legal, finance, delivery teams, deal desk, and accounts receivable.

• Own end-to-end billing accuracy — validate and process source data through Carta's AI-powered workflow, execute bulk imports, and generate client invoices in NetSuite with precision and speed
• Close the data gap — proactively identify missing or inconsistent billing data and partner with stakeholders across the business to resolve issues before they reach the client
• Drive collections excellence — manage outstanding balances through YayPay, ensuring professional follow-up that protects client relationships while keeping aging receivables in check
• Serve as the billing point of contact for clients — respond to billing queries with clarity and accuracy, meeting the professional standard expected in a complex, high-touch environment
• Support a clean month-end close — post and reconcile accrued revenue entries so financial statements reflect reality accurately and on time
• Make the process better — identify friction points in the billing cycle and help embed AI-driven improvements that scale with Carta's growth

Requirements

• Complex billing background. 4+ years of relevant experience recommended. You've worked in a demanding billing environment at a law firm, professional services firm, or within private equity or fund administration — and are comfortable navigating large, multi-source datasets accurately and efficiently.
• Detail-oriented by default. You self-review everything before it goes out. You catch what others miss and build habits that make that consistency repeatable and reliable
• Proactive communicator. You surface problems early, come with solutions, and keep stakeholders informed without being asked. Clients and colleagues trust you because you're clear, timely, and professional
• AI-curious and tool-savvy. You're genuinely interested in how AI can improve finance workflows and you adapt quickly to new platforms. Experience using Claude or other AI tools professionally is a strong advantage
• Accounting-fluent. You're comfortable with revenue recognition principles, accrued revenue postings, and month-end close. AAT Level 4, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Systems-oriented. Experience with NetSuite and/or YayPay (or comparable platforms) is a plus and even without it, you pick things up fast
