• The Los Angeles, CA office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is actively seeking an attorney to join its Police/Civil Rights Practice.

Responsibilities

• handling civil cases likely to go to jury trial, in conjunction with the lead attorney and case support team members

Requirements

• The ideal candidate must have : (1) a minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience, in any practice area and a minimum of 5 years of criminal trial experience, or a minimum 5 years of civil litigation experience, in any practice area; and (2) a minimum of 10 civil case witness depositions taken or a minimum of 10 jury trials, including witness exam (as lead or second chair counsel, civil or criminal cases); and (3) a minimum of 5 jury trials, including witness exam, as lead or second chair counsel, in any combination of civil or criminal cases. Must also be willing and able to meet firm minimum billing of 1,950 billable hours per year, plus hybrid office requirement of two in-person office days per week in our DTLA office, with remainder by remote work (if desired). This position would be focused on handling civil cases likely to go to jury trial, in conjunction with the lead attorney and case support team members. Admission to the California Bar is required.
• Preferred Civil Litigation Experience: Civil jury trials; depositions, taking and defending; written discovery, requesting and responding; discovery motion preparation, and associated meet-and-confer; dispositive motions and/or appeals, and oral argument; case handling/management experience; client retention experience. Experience with police/civil rights and/or jail/prison cases preferred, but not required. For the right experience level, this position can put the qualified associate on a partner track; however, lateral partners are also welcome.
