- The Finance Analyst provides dedicated financial, analytical, and reporting support to the Project Manager for the Spruce 2 Natural Gas Conversion Project. This role ensures accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial management across all phases of the project by maintaining current cost estimates, developing cash flow projections, managing accruals, tracking budgets, and preparing industry standard financial documentation. The Finance Analyst serves as a core project resource, supporting financial planning, compliance, procurement coordination, and reporting activities across engineering teams, contractors, consultants, plant personnel, leadership, and support organizations. This position is essential for maintaining financial transparency, organized documentation, and consistent communication throughout engineering development, construction planning, contracting, scheduling, site activities, regulatory reporting, and overall project execution.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in planning, organizing, and documenting financial components of the Spruce 2 Natural Gas Conversion Project, including cost estimates, budget development, and forecasting updates.
- Develop and maintain detailed cash flow models, accrual schedules, and financial forecasts that reflect evolving project information, procurement activities, contractor engagement, and engineering revisions.
- Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial reports, including budget variance updates, cash requirement analyses, cost summaries, burn rate tracking, and project financial dashboards.
- Coordinate monthly close activities, including reconciliation of actuals vs. latest estimates, review of commitments and expenditures, and submission of accurate accruals.
- Track, review, and document purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and material receipts associated with construction, engineering services, pipeline work, equipment procurement, and contractor mobilization.
- Maintain organized project financial documentation, including reports, permitting costs, contract amendments, transmittals, regulatory submissions, and monthly update files to ensure accessibility and traceability.
- Assist the Project Manager with preparing financial material for technical reviews, leadership briefings, oversight committees, status updates, risk discussions, and presentation packages.
- Support budget development for Power Generation by coordinating headcount, O\&M, capital, fleet, fuel, and contractor cost inputs relevant to the natural gas conversion scope.
- Work closely with Supply Chain and project teams to ensure material procurement aligns with financial plan requirements, lead times, and inventory controls.
- Coordinate and maintain project compliance with financial and regulatory reporting requirements such as GADS, EIA 923, and EIA 860 cost related submissions when applicable to project activity.
- Ensure project financial records comply with retention guidelines, corporate policies, audit requirements, and legal standards.
- Highlight cost risks, changes, opportunities, or deviations impacting schedule, scope, or budget, and collaborate with the Project Manager to develop mitigation strategies.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis including scenario modeling, schedule driven cost impacts, resource planning inputs, and support for generation forecast related cost considerations.
- Assist with clearing or updating project entries in Asset Under Construction (AUC) files when milestones are met or scopes close.
- Serve as a key resource for financial communications among engineers, operations, contractors, environmental teams, compliance, and leadership.
- Perform additional project related financial duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline
- Three years of experience in financial analysis, business management, or utility/industrial financial operations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced project environment
- Strong proficiency in Client Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and data management skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work professionally with project leadership, engineers, contractors, consultants, plant personnel, and cross functional partners
- Ability to perform economic and cost impact analyses
- Financial analysis experience within power generation, engineering, construction, or major capital project environments
- Strong accounting knowledge related to plant operations, capital project execution, and energy supply activities
- Familiarity with project documentation processes such as budgeting files, variance reports, cost logs, procurement documentation, and regulatory reporting
- Experience supporting large scale industrial projects, outages, or complex construction coordination
- Knowledge of client’s workflows, terminology, and project governance expectations
- Ability to interpret project schedules, engineering cost estimates, site activity cost drivers, and contractor financial documentation
