This position is focused on expanding our Building Automation Systems (BAS) customer base through strategic outreach, networking, prospecting, and relationship development. • Position Summary As a BAS Business Development Representative, you will actively pursue new business opportunities within commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and institutional markets. You will engage with facility leaders, building owners, property managers, engineers, and contractors to introduce automation solutions that support energy management, occupant comfort, and facility optimization. Success in this role comes from building trust, uncovering operational challenges, and creating opportunities for long-term partnerships.
• Consistently creates new opportunities through proactive business development efforts.
• Builds strong relationships with commercial facility decision-makers.

Responsibilities

• Generate new sales opportunities through cold calls, prospecting campaigns, networking events, referrals, and direct outreach.
• Identify and engage decision-makers responsible for facility operations, capital planning, and building performance.
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities throughout the assigned territory.
• Schedule and conduct customer meetings, facility tours, and introductory presentations.
• Gather information regarding building systems, operational challenges, energy goals, and future project needs.
• Promote building automation technologies, controls upgrades, monitoring solutions, and facility optimization services.
• Collaborate with engineers, project teams, and technical specialists to develop customer-focused recommendations.
• Prepare proposals, presentations, and business cases that demonstrate operational and financial benefits.
• Maintain accurate records of prospect activity, meetings, and sales opportunities within CRM systems.
• Support contract discussions and assist with project transitions following award.
• Establish long-term relationships that lead to recurring business and customer referrals.
• Remain active within industry organizations and local business communities to increase market visibility.

Requirements

• Previous experience in business development, outside sales, account acquisition, or technical sales.
• Experience within building automation, HVAC, controls, energy services, facility management, mechanical services, or construction-related industries preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable prospecting through phone calls, networking, customer visits, and cold outreach.
• Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously.
• Experience utilizing CRM software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Knowledge of BAS platforms, controls systems, smart-building technologies, or facility operations.
• Understanding of HVAC equipment, energy management strategies, or building performance initiatives.
• Experience selling service agreements, retrofit projects, or recurring revenue programs.
• Existing relationships with facility managers, property management firms, consulting engineers, or commercial building owners.
• Technical education or coursework related to building systems, engineering, facilities, or construction is beneficial.
