Job description

• The Fleet Radio Technician supports safe and efficient fleet operations by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting radio and GPS communication systems. Key duties include managing repair orders, maintaining inventory in Operative IQ, and ensuring functionality of vehicle hotspots and transmission systems. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, accurate documentation, and clear communication while considering the unique needs of patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• 1. Uses appropriate problem-solving approach to plan performance of services.
• 2. Provides services with consideration of the physical, psycho-social, cultural/spiritual, and age-specific needs of those served.
• · Possess a strong knowledge of radio installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and testing
• · Strong knowledge of Geotab fleet management and ambulance tracking systems
• · Process daily repair orders as appropriate
• · Maintain system records and inventory within the Operative IQ system
• · Manage communication parts, equipment within the communications stock room
• · Understand and troubleshoot internet GPS solutions with vehicle hotspot for computers and LP15 – 12-lead transmissions to emergency departments

• 5. Teaches/directs/advises/informs others in an appropriate manner.
• 6. Reports/records information correctly.
• 7. Monitors the work environment and initiates efforts to ensure general employee satisfaction.
• 8. Monitors the quality of work performed and intervenes, when appropriate, to correct or enhance services.
• 9. Makes timely decisions considering the impact on patient care, financial resources, employee relations, public image, and departmental concerns.
• 10. Ensures appropriate and timely verbal and written communication to Administration,
• departmental staff, and peers to facilitate flow and decision-making.
• 11. Supports the organization in all communications with patients, physicians, visitors, peers, and others.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• · Current valid NC driver’s license with a good driving history.
• · Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in two-way radio equipment and systems, repair and troubleshooting or a combination of leadership experience and education.
• · Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks related to technical and user support; troubleshooting; and repair of systems and equipment including: VHF and UHF equipment, Motorola 7/800 MHz conventional and trunked Equipment, Two-way Equipment, Antenna systems, Alert Pagers, Portables, Mobiles, vehicle Equipment, Bases, Control Stations, Tower Sites, 911 Dispatch Consoles, Duplex Operation and Associated Telecommunications Equipment
