Job description

As our Senior Accountant, you'll bring clarity, accuracy, and insight to the financial side of growing OneEnergy. You’ll play a key role in OneEnergy’s operational accounting and help power the company’s growth (pun fully intended). Responsibilities

• Asset Purchase Accounting: Make sure asset purchases are accounted for in accordance with GAAP, and partner with the Accounting Manager on the work papers that back up each asset sale.
• Solar Assets: Account for our operating solar assets in accordance with GAAP (i.e., maintain and record period depreciation schedules for the panels generating power every day).
• CIP (Construction in Progress): Support CIP accounting in accordance with GAAP for assets in construction while reviewing project costs.
• Revenue: Partner with the Accounting Manager to account for and reconcile energy generation revenue and PPA (Power Production Agreement) revenue.
• Partnership Expense Accruals: Team up with the Accounting Manager to make sure accruals are recorded per the partnership agreements and GAAP standards. (i.e. Manager Fee, Asset Management Fee, Distributions, Operating & Maintenance expenses, general expense accruals).
• ARO (Asset Retirement Obligation): Build ARO schedules and record associated journal entries monthly ensuring all underlying assumptions and estimates are reviewed and updated on a timely basis.
• REC (Renewable Energy Credit): Own the accounting for REC cost and inventory in accordance with GAAP, keeping tracking, valuation, and reporting of every REC spot-on.
• Equity Accounting: Record contributions, distributions, and ensure partnership equity is accounted for in accordance with GAAP and partnership documents.
• Leases: Record monthly journal entries and reconciliations for new and existing leases in accordance with ASC 842 for both operating and finance leases.
• Intercompany: Support intercompany accounting across a complex, multi-entity business environment.
• Debt Accounting: Work with the accounting and finance team to ensure term debt, construction debt, and corporate debt are recorded accurately each period in accordance with GAAP.
• Monthly Close: Be a key player in monthly close, recording journal entries, completing reconciliations, and related reporting per the close calendar.
• Audit: Play a key role in our annual financial statement audits with the Accounting Manager and external auditors.
• Jump into ad hoc analysis and projects as they come up. There’s always something interesting in the works.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 5+ years total experience in accounting (ideal candidate will have public accounting and industry experience).
• Experience in financial services industry with exposure to complex entity structures and investment relationships.
• Understanding of GAAP and management accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills (bonus points if you secretly love learning new formulas and a good pivot table) and proficiency in ERP systems.
• CPA or progress toward certification.
• Public accounting experience at a Big 4 firm.
• Experience or interest in renewable energy industry.
