Job description

• The CAD Designer prepares engineering drawings and performs basic calculations to support the Applications Engineering Group. This role requires thorough knowledge of creating drawings in SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Review and consideration of information presented
• Design of engineered solutions incorporating Thordon’s products, designs, concepts and installation techniques
• Preparation of CAD part drawings and assemblies in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Coordination with manufacturing to ensure designs can be manufactured and are cost-effective
• Perform quality-checking activities of junior CAD Designers to ensure correctness and completeness

Requirements

• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings required
• Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office, Database Applications, and SolidWorks
• Thorough Knowledge of SolidWorks PDM Vault system
• Ability to solve practical problems
• Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work as required
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Must be able to react to change productively and undertake other tasks as assigned
• Excellent communication skills.
• CET designation is preferred
• CAD 3D proficiency with Parts & Assemblies using SolidWorks
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with SolidWorks
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with AutoCAD
• Experience with seals, marine equipment, hydro turbines or pumps is an asset
• Thordon Product knowledge is an asset
