Job description

• Davidson is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama to support the Integrated Battle Command System's (IBCS) Engagement and Track Management Agile Software Team.
• In the Software Engineer role on the Engagement and Track Management Team, you will collaborate with hardware and software engineers to build robust, secure, and scalable software solutions that address complex logical and mathematical challenges in support of Command and Control (C2) software used by warfighters and customers around the world. The ideal candidate for this role will enjoy hands-on development, solving complex technical problems, and collaborating in a highly integrated Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain Java-based enterprise and tactical software on Linux, implementing logical and mathematical solutions aligned with IBCS program objectives.
• Participate in SAFe Scrum teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment to develop and sustain multiple software baselines, supporting evolving program needs.
• Perform software upgrades across multiple languages while preserving operational behavior; analyze and resolve complex software issues.
• Create and update technical documentation (Markdown and collaboration tools).
• Support and improve testing and automation, including unit/functional tests, code coverage, static analysis, and CI/CD pipelines; develop automation tools to enhance operations, monitoring, and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience
• Master's degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant experience
• PhD in a STEM field with 1 year of relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in STEM field with 8 years of relevant experience
• Master's degree in a STEM field with 6 years of relevant experience
• PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of relevant experience
• Must currently possess DoD 8140/8570 certification (e.g. Security+ CE).
• Active Secret Clearance
• Strong object-oriented software development experience with C++ and Java
• Proficiency in Linux-based development and runtime environments.
• Experience with scripting languages and tools including Bash and Python.
• Experience with modern configuration management and source control tools (Git / GitLab).
• Experience with Agile SAFe and Atlassian Agile tools including Jira and Confluence.
• Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance
• Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including Cameo or comparable tools.
• Background in DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines for building, integrating, testing, and delivering software.
• Experience supporting real‑time or distributed systems using RTI/DDS publish/subscribe middleware.
• Engagement domain experience with U.S. Army systems such as PATRIOT, LTAMDS, SENTINEL A3/A4, IFF devices, and M‑SHORAD, including Engagement Planning and Execution, PAC2/PAC3, AIM‑9X, and Indirect Fires.
• Track management experience, including working with sensors, composite tracks, IFF devices, and Combat Identification.
