• Salary: $39,507 per year
• Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Weinberg Housing and Resource Center is seeking an Operations Supervisor to ensure the safe, efficient, and smooth functioning of the facility by managing day-to-day operations, addressing critical issues, and overseeing staff, volunteers, and maintenance activities. They develop and implement policies and procedures, coordinate repairs and security measures, and manage inventory and vendor relationships to support high-quality services for clients. The role also includes supervising and mentoring team members, maintaining adequate staffing coverage, and fostering collaboration across all employees and volunteers to promote a safe and well-organized environment.
• The work schedule is Monday to Friday 3 PM - 11 PM.
• Catholic Charities of Baltimore Weinberg Housing and Resource Center is a low-barrier emergency shelter that provides homeless services to over 275 adult men and women each night in the City of Baltimore. Our services include shelter, convalescent care, breakfast and dinner, showers, laundry, case management and a variety of life skills and empowerment classes – with a focused goal of assisting residents in obtaining permanent housing.

Responsibilities

• Addresses critical building issues as they arise and resolve staff, client, and volunteer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all services provided to clients to ensure accurate guidance and support.
• Collaborates with the Program Director on operational planning, security needs, and vendor procurement.
• Develops, implements, and manages facility policies and procedures to support safe and efficient operations.
• Ensures the safety and security of clients, staff, volunteers, and facility assets at all times.
• Monitors facility conditions and promptly report or coordinate needed repairs and maintenance.
• Oversees inventory management, including receiving, tracking, and distributing donations with proper documentation.
• Ensures adequate staffing coverage for all shifts and adjust schedules as necessary.
• Conducts regular meetings with shift staff to review work routines, reinforce emergency response protocols, and address program security needs.
• Works collaboratively with all employees and volunteers to deliver high-quality services to clients.
• Manages and direct the work of the maintenance technician, including hiring, onboarding, supervision, and performance evaluations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Weinberg Housing & Resource Center (WHRC): The WHRC provides shelter services to 275+ homeless men and women each day with a strong focus on providing stable and permanent housing.
• Follows established shelter procedures, including monitoring the logbook, ensuring proper staffing, and conducting routine walkthroughs of the facility—resident rooms, bathrooms, storage spaces, and exterior areas—to identify and address unusual activity.
• Ensures Critical Incident Reports and Client Grievances are handled with urgency, tact and accuracy.
• Updates and maintain Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) entries and exits.
• Provides clients with clean linens and sleeping space, tours of the facility, assigns buddies as requested, and review of rules.
• Maintains and updates the Shelter Resident Chore List to support a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
• Provides crisis intervention as needed; de-escalating situations and quickly resolving conflicts between clients; being focused on recognizing symptoms of those who have mental health disorders / trauma and engaging resources as necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in management, business, human services or related field.
• Two years of related experience in human services, building operations or related experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• CPR and/or First Aid within six months of employment and maintained thereafter.
• Utilizes effective conflict-resolution skills to address issues and maintain a positive work environment, demonstrating a service-oriented approach to resolving client concerns and grievances.
• Apply strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges and make informed decisions.

• Requires proficiency in using computer systems and software to perform job function, including but not limited to, basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive is preferred.
