Financial Analyst – New Graduate at Openfarm in Toronto, ON

Job description

• The Financial Analyst plays a vital role in supporting our financial operations and day-to-day accounting processes. This position is responsible for performing core accounting tasks, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close activities. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll work collaboratively with our Finance team and cross-functional partners to maintain accurate financial records and ensure smooth operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting tasks including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
• Process vendor invoices, matching them to purchase orders and coding expenses to appropriate accounts
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable balances, apply cash receipts, and send customer statements
• Assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations, and year-end audit preparation
• Manage customer credit applications and monitor key partner credit
• Support banking and payment processes, including payment template setup
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and investigations as needed to help the team identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and strengthen processes
• Gain exposure to increasingly analytical and strategic accounting projects over time, positioning you to grow into more complex financial reporting and analysis responsibilities as you develop your skills and CPA designation

Requirements

• You have a recent Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Strong grasp of accounting fundamentals and financial statement basics
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Planning to pursue your CPA designation (enrollment timeline flexible)
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software or ERP systems (a plus)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a genuine interest in learning and growing
• You bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to ask questions and develop your craft

• The hiring range for this role is $55,000–$60,000 CAD annually, with final compensation thoughtfully aligned to your qualifications, background, and the value you bring.
