• We're looking for producers who are excited to grow a Sofar community: the audiences, artists, hosts, and partners that make our shows feel like nowhere else. You bring the local vision and the drive to fill rooms. We bring a global brand, a proven format, and a team that handles the operational heavy lifting behind the scenes: payments, taxes, insurance, royalties, guest communications, artist and venue advances, and ticketing. That means you spend your time where it matters most, which is building community and getting people in the door.
• As a Freelance Event Producer + Promoter, you'll curate, produce, and promote Sofar concerts and live events that build a strong, vibrant Sofar community in your city. You'll be a true Sofar ambassador: setting your city's strategy, leading artist and venue curation, driving ticket sales, selling local sponsorships and private shows, and expanding Sofar's footprint in your market.
• All events in this role are produced under the Sofar brand. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to invest in growing Sofar locally over the long term, not a platform for running a separate events business.
• This is a commission-based freelance role with a flexible schedule. Events typically take place on weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute your city's strategy, including number of monthly shows, neighborhoods, show themes, and growth plans
• Lead curation and booking with the highest-quality, most diverse set of artists and venues, continually growing Sofar's local network
• Own local promotion and ticket sales. You're the marketing engine for your city, using social media, community relationships, press, and grassroots tactics to fill every show and strengthen Sofar's brand locally
• Own staffing and show quality, ensuring magical experiences rooted in hospitality for every guest, artist, and venue (we facilitate payment for event staff and provide customer service to attendees)
• Manage your city's financial performance, keeping every event profitable and healthy
• Build relationships with local businesses to drive sales of sponsorships and private events
• Identify and partner with local organizations with like-minded audiences to build community, broaden Sofar's reach, and co-promote shows
• Collaborate with other local leaders and Sofar producers globally to share what's working, create diverse experiences that generate buzz, and amplify Sofar's brand
• Support Sofar's Business Partnerships and Global Communities teams with high-quality curation and seamless execution for inbound brand partnership activations

Requirements

• You're excited about Sofar's mission and format, and you want to see a thriving Sofar community in your city
• You have deep connections to your local scene and an existing network of artists, venues, and community connectors, and you play an active role in building community around it
• You have 3–5 years of experience in live event curation, production, or promotions
• You know how to sell tickets, not just produce shows. You have a proven ability to grow an audience and drive local demand through social media, partnerships, press, and community outreach. This is a core part of the role, not an afterthought
• You have experience selling event sponsorships or marketing activations, ideally in live events or experiential marketing, and you're confident pitching concepts and closing partnership deals
• You have a strong read on your city: its neighborhoods, its audiences, and where people like to spend their free time
• You're a natural connector who builds lasting relationships with community organizations, media partners, and local businesses
• You understand the economics of live events and know how to make the numbers work
• You're entrepreneurial and resourceful. Whether it's a creative ticket push or a live-event curveball, you figure it out and take ownership
• You can work autonomously, but you value being part of a larger community and organization
• You communicate clearly, manage your time well, and bring professionalism to every interaction
