Job description

• Comfrt is a direct-to-consumer apparel brand scaling rapidly toward $1B in revenue. We are building a world-class operations team that matches our growth ambitions. As Controller, you’ll own the financial operations infrastructure that enables this scale—from accounting and reporting to financial systems and compliance. You’ll report directly to the CFO and partner with finance, supply chain, technology, and operations leadership to ensure our financial systems are accurate, efficient, and provide insights that drive business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Accounting Oversight
• Lead all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management
• Ensure full compliance with US GAAP (including revenue recognition, inventory costing, and accruals)
• Serve as primary reviewer of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial outputs
• Maintain and continuously improve accounting policies and documentation
• Internal Controls & Audit Buildout
• Design and implement a formal internal controls framework (SOX-ready mindset)
• Establish and document key controls across accounting processes
• Lead internal audit readiness, including testing, documentation, and remediation
• Identify control gaps and partner with stakeholders to strengthen processes
• Ensure the organization is audit-ready at all times
• Audit & Financial Reporting
• Lead audit preparation, including PBC schedules and auditor coordination
• Ensure all financial data is well-supported, documented, and defensible
• Support preparation of financial statements and internal reporting packages
• Month-End Close Leadership
• Own and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Establish and enforce close timelines, deliverables, and accountability across the team
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements
• Review all balance sheet reconciliations and enforce strong support standards
• Identify and resolve variances and issues during close

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
• 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 3-4 years of experience in audit or public accounting
• Proven experience leading month-end close and owning accounting processes
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
• Experience in inventory and/or DTC, eCommerce, or retail environments preferred
• Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations)
• Experience with ERP systems and high-volume transaction environments
