Job description

• As Company Controller, you will be the senior owner of the company’s accounting function and financial reporting. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial information, and for building the processes, controls, and team capability needed to support the company’s growth.
• This is a senior leadership role that combines strategic oversight with hands-on expertise. You will lead and develop the accounting team, including the Financial Controller, set accounting policy, and act as the company’s primary authority on technical accounting matters, including the valuation of precious metals inventory.

Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting function, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, with responsibility for continuously improving speed and accuracy.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including direct supervision of the Financial Controller.
• Ensure financial statements are prepared in full compliance withU.S. GAAP and serve as the final reviewer of all financial reporting.
• Set and maintain accounting policies, and resolve complex technical accounting issues.
• Own inventory accounting methodology, including valuation of precious metals, reserves, and reconciliation processes.
• Design, implement, and monitor a robust internal control framework appropriate to the company’s size and risk profile.
• Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local tax and statutory requirements, working closely with external tax advisors.
• Lead all external audits and financial reviews, and serve as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial service providers.
• Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial planning.

Requirements

• CPA required
• 10–15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3–5 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
• Big 4 or public accounting background preferred
• Deep U.S. GAAP expertise, including complex inventory accounting; experience with precious metals, commodities, or similar high-value inventory is a strong advantage
• Proven track record of leading audits and managing relationships with external auditors and advisors
• Demonstrated experience building, leading, and developing accounting teams
• Experience designing and implementing internal controls and accounting policies
• Strong systems knowledge, with experience improving or implementing ERP and reporting processes
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to executives and the Board
• High integrity, sound judgment, and a strong sense of accountability
