Job description

• This position will lead the software engineering group and provide guidance and assistance in all phases of the design process from concept to manufacturing. Work environments are general office and Engineering Lab.

Responsibilities

• Supervise specific division of the Software Engineering group. This responsibility includes resource allocation, hiring, performing reviews, feedback on project planning, and establishing realistic goals with the engineers.
• Supervise and validate the technical solutions and schedules proposed by the design engineers in the group.
• Periodically report the performance of the group, its bandwidth availability and ensure that the group performs at its maximum capacity.
• Establish a quality process enabling engineers to produce designs efficiently by reusing established practices while allowing flexibility to innovate and achieve.
• Play a hands-on role in day-to-day software implementation cycles; writing specifications, making designs trade-off decisions, participating in design reviews, coding and troubleshooting, as required to fill the gaps in the group bandwidth.
• Ensure the software development process is followed by creating a paper trail of meeting minutes, specifications and validation documents.
• Assist in the decision making process during the design cycle and provide an objective view when reviewing implementation proposals.
• Contribute to proposals, project plans and schedules for each project in design by the software development group.
• Maintain and improve the software development environment to include revision control systems, bug/issue tracking, build server and test systems.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing engineering groups and a minimum 15 years’ experience desired in some of the following areas:
• Developing strategies for software
• Deploying and administering software development tools.
• Architecture, designing, implementing, and testing embedded systems software
• Designing, implementing, and testing software writing in assembly, C/C++
• Imaging systems and electro-optical components (highly desirable).
• Word-Excel-Power Point skills required.
• Strong Computer Skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Design and implementation of embedded software from given or derived specifications (implemented in C, C++ and assembly)
• Must be US Citizen or Perm Resident
• Design, implementation and integration of software products using Linux/OpenSource and/or Microsoft Visual Studio
• Validation of software
• Imaging Systems and Electro-Optical Components
