• Why now
• Harper is hiring Account Executives in Atlanta and San Francisco. Atlanta is Harper's in-person, high-volume sales hub, and San Francisco is another active home for the same closing work. The SDR owns reach and qualification. Intake owns application completeness.
• You begin when the customer is qualified and the account is ready for a quote, recommendation, or closing conversation.
• This is a phone-closing role. You take warmed, qualified business owners and turn them into Harper customers at volume. You are measured on policies closed, booked revenue, conversion quality, and the accuracy of what you sell.
• The opportunities you will close
• Most of your work follows a straightforward path from qualified customer to quote, recommendation, and decision. Some opportunities are harder. The first classification, quote, market, package, or handoff did not work, but the customer may still be worth winning.
• Those accounts are an appealing part of the job for a seller who likes solving the real problem. You read the history, diagnose what failed, rebuild a credible path with the right Harper partners, explain what changed, and ask the customer for a decision.

Responsibilities

• Close small-business accounts at volume. Run direct, focused conversations and ask for the business when Harper has the right answer.
• Use the full account context. Know the customer's operation, urgency, quoted options, coverage needs, and open questions before you call.
• Explain the commercial choice. Make price, coverage, carrier, and tradeoffs understandable without hiding behind insurance language.
• Handle objections and follow-up. Stay with a live opportunity until it closes, clearly dies, or requires a different Harper owner.
• Recover harder opportunities. Read the full history, distinguish work Harper still owes from customer follow-up or a terminal outcome, and coordinate the corrected quote, market, package, or recommendation.
• Remarket thoughtfully. Work with placement and insurance experts to choose a credible next market rather than repeating a failed route.
• Work the prepared queue. Verify the surfaced account facts, use the prioritized follow-up list, correct generated drafts before use, and record the actual outcome.
• Protect contact preferences. Never work a customer who opted out or reached an explicit terminal outcome.
• Protect accuracy. Work within your license and authority. Never create confidence by overstating coverage or skipping a real question.
• Feed the system. Capture why customers buy, wait, or walk away so the playbook and product improve.
• Raise the floor. Share calls, language, and patterns that make the whole sales team better.
• You accept clean handoffs and keep each live opportunity moving toward one customer decision.
• Your recommendations make the quoted option, material tradeoffs, and unresolved conditions clear.
• Harder recovery opportunities leave your hands with the original failure understood and a credible new commercial path.
• Bound accounts carry the accepted option and required completion steps into the next stage without ambiguity.
• Lost or stalled accounts preserve the customer's stated reason, or an honest record that the reason remains unknown.

Requirements

• You have closed in a high-volume phone-sales environment.
• You are comfortable being measured on conversion and revenue, not soft activity.
• You can build trust quickly with small-business owners.
• You listen for the real objection and respond directly.
• You can read a difficult account history, identify what failed, and explain a corrected path without blaming the customer.
• You use coaching, call review, and data to improve your own conversion.
• You can earn a commercial insurance producer license quickly if you do not already hold one.
• Commercial insurance experience is valuable but not required for every level.
• You are based in Atlanta or San Francisco, or ready to relocate to one of those offices.

• Harper offers health, dental, and vision insurance. Office-specific benefits are set by working location.
• Salary: $150,000–$200,000 OTE. Top performers earn more.

• Location: On-site, New York or San Francisco. Based here or willing to relocate.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, very early morning start, in-office 5 days a week.
• Licensing: Commercial insurance producer license required within ~30 days of start; Harper pays for training and licensing.
