- Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software systems for a military aircraft platforms. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities that enable the performance, safety, and effectiveness of next-generation military aviation systems.
- This position requires a software engineer to use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products. The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will work independently at times on projects, at other times will be in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams.
- Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Continued eligibility for access to classified information is required throughout employment, as dictated by program needs.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of advanced software systems for a military aircraft platforms
- Contribute directly to mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities
- Use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products
- Work independently at times on projects, at other times in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers and program development and deployment teams
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience
- C++ development for safety-critical avionics systems
- Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity)
- Embedded application development using RTOS and Windows environments
- Prior SW Development and Integration experience utilizing the following communications protocols (MIL-STD-1553 & Ethernet)
- Software integration & test in lab and hardware environments
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Ability to work onsite 100%
- Ability to travel 10%
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Experience utilizing Greenhills ARINC 653/APEX API
- Experience developing software for Electronic Warfare and Self Protection Systems ((ALQ-213, ALE-47, AN/AAR-47, AN/ALR-56M)
- Familiarity with software requirements development utilizing IBM DOORS
- CI/CD Pipeline experience
- Experience updating/reviewing software documentation (SRS/IRS, SDD/IDD, STP, STD, STR, etc)
- Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
- Version control and issue tracking (Gitlab, Atlassian suite)
- Hardware/software integration and troubleshooting
- Experience with Wireshark and Lua script plugins
- Experience with safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C)
- Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
