- The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business growth by identifying, pursuing, and converting net-new customers and untapped market opportunities. This role focuses on building pipeline, penetrating new accounts, and expanding Graco’s footprint in targeted segments. The ideal candidate develops and executes outbound sales strategies, uncovers customer needs, and positions differentiated solutions that drive long-term value.
- This role requires strong prospecting discipline, business acumen, and the ability to engage decision-makers early in the buying cycle. The Sales Development Manager is proactive, resilient, and highly results-oriented, with a focus on creating new business momentum in emerging or underpenetrated markets.
Responsibilities
- Business Development & Pipeline Generation
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within targeted industries, segments, and geographies.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, and market intelligence.
- Qualify leads and opportunities, focusing on high-potential accounts aligned to strategic growth priorities.
- Develop entry strategies for new accounts, including stakeholder mapping and value positioning.
- Customer Engagement & Solution Selling
- Engage prospective customers to understand business challenges, needs, and decision drivers.
- Position Graco’s products and solutions in a compelling way that differentiates from competitors.
- Lead early-stage discovery conversations and shape opportunities prior to formal sales engagement.
- Partner with account managers, distributors, or specialists as opportunities progress toward close.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy Execution
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and market dynamics to inform targeting and messaging.
- Provide insights from the field to influence product, marketing, and commercial strategies.
- Execute focused campaigns aligned to strategic growth initiatives or new product introductions.
- Continuously refine outreach strategies to improve conversion rates and pipeline quality.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Track activity, pipeline development, and conversion metrics in CRM systems.
- Provide regular updates on pipeline health, key wins, and market insights.
- Maintain accurate records of prospect interactions and opportunity progression.
- Adjust strategies based on performance data and evolving business priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
- 5+ years of sales experience with a strong emphasis on new business development.
- Demonstrated success in prospecting, pipeline building, and converting new customers.
- Strong business acumen and ability to identify and qualify high-value opportunities.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and comfortable operating in ambiguity.
- Experience using CRM tools and digital sales platforms.
- Ability to travel approximately 25–40%.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain insurability with Graco’s chosen Fleet Insurer.

- The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation. If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
