- Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator in the Printing Department is responsible for operating a printing press and packing / unpacking rigid plastic containers and lids. A fully qualified Press Operator will be skilled in the following key responsibilities areas however may only be required to perform one or more of the responsibilities at a given time.
Responsibilities
- Perform job kit verification
- Line Clearance
- Replace plates
- Wash and prepare colour heads
- • Includes all six and eight colour presses
- • Pack / Unpack boxes according to customer requirements
- • Take trending tray samples
- • Apply labels and stamp every box without pre-labeling
- • Cover other machines for lunch and breaks
- • Visually inspects product at the packing station
- • Maintain trending tray
- Update job cards
- Enter information on Daily Machine Scheduling and Attainment Board (White Board)
- Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures
- • Never compromise safety
- • Treat fellow Team Members with honesty, respect and dignity
- • Meet standards of conduct
- • Adhere to 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rules
Requirements
- Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to work with constant exposure to moving machinery and noise. The physical requirements include movements of a repetitious and unchanging nature.
- Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
- Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a team
- Ability to give concentrated attention for long periods of time
- Uses sound judgment to make good decisions
- Adapts to changing work environments, work priorities and organizational needs
- This job requires the majority of the time to be spent on the air-conditioned shop floor exposed to a noisy environment.
