Responsibilities
- In this role…
- You will be responsible for entry of complex cases and assisting with various civil law filings. Responsible for contacting both by phone and in-person with parties, attorneys, and law enforcement to ensure all required documents and fees have been submitted. You will be responsible for preparing and distributing notices and copies of court documents.
- You will also be responsible for reviewing and approving documents for judicial signature according to set guidelines. Notifying the judicial officer of any missing required elements to the judgment or order.
- This position also entails assisting self-represented litigants and attorneys on the phone and in-person with questions on policy and procedure based on established guidelines. Monitor reports and track pending cases to take appropriate action. This includes monitoring other reports associated with the timely disposition or data entry accuracy of cases.
- Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
Requirements

- The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- AND
- At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents
- OR
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

- Proficiency providing tactful and professional customer service to a variety of individuals or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances in a busy professional setting.
- Proficiency using computers to access and input information and to complete a variety of tasks; computer use should be recent and regular.
- Skill performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict, and often competing, deadlines in a fast-paced office setting, to include high-volume scheduling.
- Skill explaining processes, procedures, or policies.
- Skill meeting deadlines despite frequent interruption while working independently or within a team.
- Skill reviewing documents for accuracy, content, grammar, and punctuation.
- Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.
- Experience working in a court or legal environment.

- We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
- The hourly equivalent for this position is $26.19 - $40.63. [OR The annual salary for this position is $54,464 - $84,501.]

- OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
- In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the fourth step of the salary range, depending on experience. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
