• Are you looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact and strengthen accountability in County operations? As a Staff Auditor on the Compliance Audit team, you'll apply your analytical and critical-thinking skills to evaluate County operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the County Auditor in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities.
• The Staff Auditor role combines independent work, teamwork, and collaboration with County departments and other stakeholders. In this role, you will support the Compliance Audit Department's mission by performing a variety of audit and compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Execute audit engagements in adherence with the Global Internal Audit Standards, Local Government Code, applicable regulations, and county policies.
• Serve as a liaison between the audit team and client departments, building professional respectful relationships through regular interaction.
• Perform fieldwork activities, including audit testing and client interviews.
• Work with the audit team on multiple concurrent engagements.
• Participate in the development of audit observations and recommendations with root‑cause remediation.
• Draft concise, timely, fact‑based audit reports.
• Maintain strong judgment, discretion, and confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Complete administrative tasks such as daily check‑ins, email review, and planning assigned work.
• Provide support on special projects or administrative assignments as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field.
• 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Basic knowledge of internal auditing.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and critical-thinking ability.
• Ability to plan, organize, and follow through on tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to build positive, professional relationships.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
