Job description

• RWE Design Build is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Accountant to support construction project accounting, day-to-day accounting operations, and financial reporting. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and partnering with project managers and internal teams to ensure financial integrity across construction projects and company operations.
• The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This individual should be able to manage project-related accounting responsibilities independently while collaborating effectively with project management, operations, and accounting teams.

Responsibilities

• Support construction project-based accounting activities, including preparation of monthly construction draws.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit & loss reports.
• Maintain general ledger, accounts payable files, and other accounting records.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
• Perform account reconciliations (bank, payroll, customer, and vendor accounts) on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Post entries daily.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other rules and regulations, including internal policies and procedures.
• Partner with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and support financial-related inquiries, including collections.
• Provide financial analysis and research at the account, entity, division, department, and customer level.
• Communicate financial insights and results to leadership and key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of general and construction accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
