Job description

• Salary up to £48,000 depending on experience
• Location Wotton-under-Edge, Glos
• Hybrid working 3 days/week on-site (please note, no public transport availably)
• Renishaw, a world leader in high end technologies is currently seeking to recruit a Usability Engineer. Working on our MODUS suite of software products, the role exposes the successful candidate to some of our latest cutting-edge technologies.
• The role will primarily involve working with software development teams to help improve the usability of the products they produce, while empowering the teams to become more self-sufficient as their experience grows.

• The successful applicant will have an interest in keeping up to date with interaction design and software / hardware human interface design. They will be self-motivated and driven, capable of managing tasks to completion and to the highest standard. The individual in this role will have effective communication, liaison and client-facing skills, and will be a good team player, able to articulate their views while participating in design debates.

Responsibilities

• Focus on managing the daily demands of iterative incremental UI & UX design within a production environment
• Work closely with the product owners and technical leads to assist with the definition of user stories and to develop initial user interface and interaction designs
• Develop workflow sketches, low-fidelity mock-ups, storyboards and design alternatives
• Work within, and help to extend, the existing Renishaw usability standards and guidelines

Requirements

• Expertise or exposure to the fields of Human Factors, Ergonomics or User Centred Design
• Proven ability to design user-centric workflows to complex problems
• Proven presentation / public speaking skills
• Exposure to software, mechanical or electrical engineering
• Proven ability to create storyboards / wireframes / UI prototypes
• Successful experience in managing a small team or mentoring others
• Exposure to working with an Agile software development team
