• Department: Finance & Accounting Reports To: Manager of Accounting FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Rockledge Florida (Headquarters) Date: September 2026
• The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the Accounting operations of Star Step Performance Coatings Group by ensuring accurate Accounting & Financial reporting, maintaining strong accounting controls, and supporting the organization's month-end close, budgeting, and financial analysis activities. This position serves as a key member of the Accounting team and works closely with operations, leadership, and external partners to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
• The Senior Accountant is responsible for general ledger management, account reconciliations, financial reporting, accounting support, inventory accounting, and process improvement initiatives. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries and supporting documentation.
• Perform monthly and annual closing activities, ensuring timely completion.
• Prepare financial statements and internal management reports.
• Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Assist with financial reporting and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and properly documented.
• Support annual audits and provide requested documentation to external auditors.
• Month-End Close & General Ledger Management
• Prepare and review journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll, inventory, and other transactions.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Reconcile bank accounts, customer accounts, credit card accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Monitor transaction integrity and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
• Assist with year-end closing and financial statement preparation.
• Retail Accounting & Inventory Management
• Support retail accounting activities and collections of accounts including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Ensuring timely vendor payments / Customer collections consistent with terms.
• Monitor retail transactions and reconcile daily payment account activity.
• Analyze inventory variances and assist operations with identifying root causes.
• Analyze retail costs and provide recommendations for cost efficiencies.
• Financial Analysis & Budgeting Support
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Assist in monthly financial analysis including identifying trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare management reports and financial dashboards.
• Assist leadership with ad hoc reporting and special projects.
• Compliance, Audit & Internal Controls
• Maintain strong internal controls and adhere to established accounting procedures.
• Support compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
• Assist with annual financial audits and tax-related requests.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Accounting procedures.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to strengthen controls and efficiency.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information and business data.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Human Resources to ensure accurate accounting information.
• Support ERP system implementation and improvement, reporting enhancements, and data integrity initiatives.
• Serve as a financial resource for managers throughout the organization.
• Participate in special projects and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

• Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Supply industry experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Manufacturing and Retail accounting preferred.
• CPA certification preferred, but not required
• Experience working in a multi-entity or growth-oriented organization is a plus.
• Technical Skills & Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Odoo or SAP
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience preparing account reconciliations and financial statements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
