Technical Business Analyst - Market Risk at Genesis10 in Jersey City, NJ

Job description

• Genesis10 is currently seeking a Technical Business Analyst - Hybrid (3 days onsite) position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
• This role involves owning work streams between business and technology stakeholders to solve business problems within the Market Risk domain. The ideal candidate will leverage strong financial product knowledge and technical skills in Python and SQL to propose technology solutions, develop prototypes, and drive the functional design of market risk applications within an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and working sessions to define system capabilities
• Translate business requirements into user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria aligned with Agile methodology
• Create Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), process flows, and use cases
• Define API/interface requirements and system integration specifications in collaboration with technical teams
• Analyze current-state vs. future-state processes and identify gaps and improvement opportunities
• Document business process workflows using process diagrams (BPMN or equivalent)
• Analyze data flows, system dependencies, and integration points across enterprise applications
• Support system modernization initiatives including migration and transformation efforts
• Assist in defining data mapping requirements between source and target systems
• Validate business rules and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory standards
• Develop and execute SQL queries to analyze datasets and validate system outputs
• Perform data reconciliation and support root cause analysis of production issues
• Assist in defining data governance standards and validation rules
• Collaborate with database and development teams to ensure accurate data modeling
• Develop test strategies, test cases, and traceability matrices
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validate system functionality against business requirements
• Support defect triage, prioritization, and resolution tracking
• Participate in release planning and production validation activities
• Assist with post-implementation reviews and lessons learned documentation
• Act as liaison between business users, developers, QA, architects, and infrastructure teams
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Communicate project status, risks, and impacts clearly to business stakeholders
• Document system designs, workflows, APIs, and operational procedures for knowledge sharing
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
• Strong experience in business analysis within enterprise environments
• Proficiency in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder facilitation
• Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
• Strong understanding of relational databases and ability to write SQL queries
• Knowledge of system integration concepts and web application architecture
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Experience in financial services or banking environments
• Familiarity with API-based and microservices architectures
• Experience supporting large-scale system releases
• Exposure to CI/CD processes and DevOps environments
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in financial systems
• Certification such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile-related credentials
