• Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a paralegal for the Healthcare Department and Healthcare Industry Practice in our Indianapolis office. This full-time position offers exceptional training and meaningful exposure to complex regulatory, corporate, and transactional matters within the healthcare industry in a fast-paced Am Law 100 environment.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, diligence, responsiveness, and comfort working on regulatory and corporate issues, along with the ability to support sophisticated clients across a broad range of healthcare projects and matters. Candidates should possess effective communication skills, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn client-specific business operations and internal workflows.
• Responsibilities include preparing and drafting routine documents, correspondence, and memoranda; assisting with regulatory filings (licensure applications, , provider enrollment materials, and ownership transfer documentation); and supporting attorneys with project management across multiple matters. The successful candidate will also have strong writing skills, the ability to manage competing priorities effectively, and a demonstrated capacity to adapt quickly in a dynamic practice. A strong academic background and an interest in developing within a legal career is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing healthcare regulatory applications (operating licenses, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.), for both new initiatives and change of ownership transactions
• Preparing corporate filings with Secretaries of State and other governmental agencies.
• Conducting preliminary legal or business research on corporate, regulatory, or procedural matters.
• Collecting and organizing documents for due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, financings, or corporate reorganizations.
• Preparing, overseeing, and managing transactional documents.
• Overseeing and coordinating transaction closings, including managing execution of closing documents and related planning.
• Maintaining accurate and organized records of completed transactions.
• Communicating with clients, firm attorneys, opposing counsel, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Supporting special projects and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Paralegal Certificate and/or a bachelor’s degree from a highly regarded academic institution.
• Excellent academic credentials and a strong work ethic.
• Superior organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with legal document management systems.
• Comfortable with using AI tools such as Harvey and Copilot
• Relevant paralegal or administrative experience preferred.
