Job description

• The Global Finance Learning & Capability Development Lead owns the global learning and capability agenda that enables NOV Finance to perform effectively today and evolve for the future. As a trusted advisor to Finance leadership on organizational capability and workforce readiness, the role translates business and Finance priorities, technology evolution, transformation needs, and changes in the profession into practical, scalable development solutions that strengthen foundational, role-specific, and emerging capabilities.
• This is a hands-on role responsible for both shaping and executing the Finance learning agenda, including learning architecture, curricula, content development, delivery, learning platforms, governance, and measurement. The role also supports career and talent development as part of building Finance capability and strengthening the future talent pipeline.
• The role works across Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, transformation teams, and subject-matter experts to deliver relevant, scalable solutions that meet the needs of a diverse global Finance organization.

Responsibilities

• Finance Capability, Acumen & Future Skills
• Own an enterprise-wide view of the capabilities required across NOV Finance, partnering with Finance leaders and subject-matter experts to define foundational Finance and business acumen, functional expertise, technology fluency, digital and data skills, AI-enabled ways of working, and leadership capabilities.
• Establish and maintain the global Finance core curriculum, capability models, and role-based competency frameworks, and assess gaps to guide learning, upskilling, reskilling, and workforce development priorities.
• Anticipate how Finance capability requirements are evolving, monitoring changes in NOV's business, operating model, technology, regulatory environment, and the Finance profession and translating them into future capability priorities.
• Learning Strategy, Development & Delivery
• Translate Finance capability priorities into a scalable global learning agenda, including curricula and role-based learning journeys for onboarding, foundational development, upskilling, reskilling, leadership development, and career progression.
• Manage Finance learning and capability initiatives as disciplined global programs, with clear priorities, milestones, ownership, governance, and accountability for execution
• Design and deliver practical learning solutions, personally developing content and facilitating programs where appropriate while partnering with subject-matter experts and using formal learning, digital content, mentoring, peer learning, and on-the-job development.
• Own the Finance learning portfolio, platforms, and external partnerships, ensuring effective governance, delivery, tracking, reporting, and content maintenance while leveraging external providers, professional organizations, universities, and certifications where they add value.
• Career, Talent & Leadership
• Build Finance career pathways, mobility, rotations, and development experiences that help employees understand career opportunities, build critical capabilities, and prepare for future roles.
• Coordinate Finance talent and succession processes, strengthening pipelines for critical roles and ensuring high-potential and critical talent receive deliberate development through learning, mentoring, rotations, special projects, and other experiences.
• Develop Finance managers and future leaders, building capabilities in coaching, feedback, performance management, business acumen, enterprise thinking, leading change, influence, and talent development.
• Measurement & Continuous Improvement
• Measure and report Finance capability development and workforce readiness, including learning effectiveness, skill development, application on the job, talent pipelines, mobility, and succession depth.
• Evaluate success based on improvements in capability and employee effectiveness—not simply participation and completion—and provide leaders with actionable insight into progress and gaps.
• Use data, employee and leader feedback, and external practices to continuously improve the Finance learning and capability agenda.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certification is a plus.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, organizational capability, talent development, Finance transformation, Finance operations, or related areas, ideally supporting a Finance or Accounting organization in a complex global environment.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, building, and delivering learning programs, including translating capability needs into curricula and development solutions, developing content with subject-matter experts, and administering enterprise learning platforms.
• Strong Finance and Accounting acumen with the credibility to engage Finance leaders, understand functional and emerging capability needs, and translate complex Finance topics into effective development solutions. Finance, Finance transformation, or Finance capability-development experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong program management and execution skills, with the ability to move between strategy and hands-on delivery and take initiatives from concept through implementation and sustainable operation.
• Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder-management, and digital skills, including comfort with learning technologies, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools.
• Curious, adaptable, and development-oriented, with the ability to anticipate how Finance and its capability requirements are evolving, influence across a matrixed global organization, and help people build skills and advance their careers.
