Job description

• The objective of this role is to support and coordinate demand planning activities across the AbbVie Canada portfolio, ensuring visibility to product movement, channel dynamics, demand trends and business impacts across AbbVie’s key brands. The role works closely with Commercial Finance, Customer Service, Trade, Pricing and Supply stakeholders to support informed business decisions, planning activities and month-end coordination.
• The Manager, Demand Planning must have a strong knowledge of the business environment across his/her area of responsibility, including leading the review and analysis of wholesaler and channel purchasing trends, inventory days on hand, downstream customer buying patterns and impacts to the Canadian affiliate business. The position requires a strong working knowledge of financial modeling, data organization, AbbVie’s distribution network and contract-related financial analysis.
• The Manager must have the ability to communicate concisely and proactively while establishing effective cross-functional relationships with Trade, Customer Operations, Transportation, Pricing, Forecasting and Operations. The ability to assimilate information from multiple stakeholders and concisely communicate assumptions, risks, insights and recommendations is key. The position will establish effective working relationships with the Trade team regarding wholesaler performance, channel insights and distribution-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Wholesaler Order Fulfillment: In partnership with the Trade team, perform review of product orders versus historical customer purchase trends, customer inventory days-on-hand levels and internal availability of product. The process may involve coordination with Customer Service, Trade, Warehousing, Transportation and Supply teams before product is prepared for shipment and subsequently delivered. The successful candidate must possess the ability to quickly engage stakeholders, build consensus and execute under tight timelines.
• Distribution Service Agreement (DSA) Analysis and Support: Support financial and analytical activities related to Distribution Service Agreements. Per contract terms, calculate wholesaler business performance in the categories of purchase stability behavior, inventory days-on-hand levels, order fulfillment rates to downstream customers and timely submission and accuracy of product movement data. Actual performance versus defined metrics is computed regularly and contributes to business performance reviews and planning discussions. Communication of performance must be clear, concise and supported by a thorough understanding of the underlying data and business implications. Support financial processes related to DSA performance metrics and associated contractual obligations.
• Commercial Insights: Provide supply channel analytical support across AbbVie Canada brands and deliver insights regarding channel performance and demand trends. The incumbent must be proactive in originating, informing, participating in and executing analyses necessary to effectively provide impactful business insights. The ability to navigate, organize and analyze large data sets while highlighting key takeaways and implications is critical.
• Month-End Coordination and Business Performance Support: Coordinate month-end activities related to product movement, wholesaler inventory, channel performance and business results across the AbbVie Canada portfolio. Own the recurring data pulls and analyses currently supporting the month-end process, consolidate and validate the information, and provide a standardized file in a complete, accurate and ready-to-use format. Analyze variances, risks and opportunities; propose practical action items to support the monthly close; and coordinate with Pricing, Commercial Finance, Customer Service, Trade and Forecasting to determine whether any commercial, pricing or operational actions are required. Facilitate cross-functional follow-up on agreed actions and communicate key business impacts and recommendations in a timely manner.
• Key Finance contact supporting analysis related to wholesaler and channel performance.
• Assist in determining channel quantities for product launches and NPIs through collaboration with Customer Service Operations, Forecasting and Supply.
• Demonstrate leadership through influence, collaboration and effective cross-functional coordination.
• Support data quality initiatives and maintain strong understanding of available data sources and analytics tools.
• Ensure the integrity, completeness and accuracy of financial and operational information used in decision making.
• Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and sound judgment in a rapidly changing business environment.
• Make timely recommendations supported by data and business context.

Requirements

• This position requires a professional background with strong analytical and process-oriented capabilities and customer-focused experience to serve as an internal leader and resource to AbbVie Canada management.
• A degree in Accounting or Finance is required. A CPA or MBA is considered an asset. The incumbent must possess strong financial problem-solving abilities and be capable of translating data into actionable business recommendations. Knowledge of channel dynamics, demand planning processes and commercial business drivers is important to success in the role.
• 8–10 years of overall business experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment. Experience should include one or more of commercial finance, financial planning and analysis, forecasting, demand planning, supply chain finance, financial reporting, cost accounting or auditing. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, SAP/BPC experience, scenario planning capabilities, data presentation skills and PowerPoint experience are preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken.
• AbbVie aims to offer a French-speaking workplace in Quebec and has made efforts to limit English requirements. However, advanced English skills are essential for this role because the position involves working with English-speaking employees, clients, and regions outside Quebec.
