- Buffalo Solar is seeking a Commercial Solar Design & Proposal Specialist to support a high volume of commercial solar and battery energy storage opportunities. This position turns customer utility data and project information into preliminary system designs, financial models, and customer proposals.
- The role works closely with Sales and Procurement and requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage frequent revisions as projects move through the sales process.
Responsibilities
- Enter and analyze customer utility billing and energy-usage data.
- Create preliminary commercial solar designs and production models using HelioScope.
- Support preliminary BESS sizing and modeling for applicable projects.
- Coordinate with Procurement to select appropriate modules, inverters, batteries, and other major equipment based on availability, pricing, and project requirements.
- Develop project financial models incorporating system production, utility savings, project costs, incentives, and other project economics.
- Enter project information into the proposal platform and generate customer proposals.
- Review designs, financial models, and proposals for accuracy and consistency.
- Manage a high volume of proposals, revisions, and changing priorities.
- Work closely with the Sales team to respond to customer requests and revise designs, assumptions, and proposals as opportunities evolve.
- Respond constructively to feedback and make corrections accurately and efficiently.
Requirements
- Experience or education in solar, engineering, energy, construction, finance, or a related technical field preferred.
- HelioScope or similar solar-design experience preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial solar and BESS is a plus.
- Strong analytical, Excel, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization.
- Comfortable working with numbers, utility data, and financial information.
- Able to manage multiple deadlines and frequent revisions.
- Collaborative, receptive to feedback, and willing to learn.
