Sr. Copywriter, Creative Studio at Rivian in US-CA-Irvine

• The Creative Studio defines and delivers Rivian’s visual and narrative identity.
• We are looking for a Senior Copywriter to help shape how Rivian shows up in the world—from early concepting through the final line of copy. Reporting to the Lead Copywriter, this role brings strong craft and a growing point of view to brand voice, campaign thinking, and customer storytelling, translating strategy, product truth, and customer insight into clear, distinctive, emotionally resonant work.
• You will write across priority initiatives and partner closely with art directors, designers, creative leads, strategists, producers, product marketers, communications partners, and subject matter experts. Working within the narrative approach set by the Lead Copywriter and creative leadership, you will help carry ideas across the customer journey and ensure they are expressed with consistency, clarity, and craft.
• From campaign platforms and messaging systems to editorial stories, email, social, retail, content, and experiential work, you will connect Rivian’s mission and products to the people we want to reach. You are a generous creative partner who can move fluidly between concepting, problem-solving, and precise execution.

Responsibilities

• Write copy for integrated campaigns, launches, and brand initiatives from brief through delivery, with guidance from a Lead Copywriter.
• Develop creative concepts, headlines, taglines, product stories, and other customer-facing copy across channels; contribute to campaign platforms and messaging architectures.
• Apply and help evolve voice, tone, and messaging principles that create a connected customer experience and strengthen Rivian’s brand distinctiveness.
• Partner with art directors, designers, creative leads, strategists, producers, and cross-functional stakeholders to turn briefs into compelling, strategically grounded work.
• Translate Rivian’s mission, products, technology, and customer experience into language that is clear, inviting, differentiated, and on-brand.
• Write across a range of formats and audiences, including website, email, newsletters, social, retail, CRM, film and video, experiential, and launch materials.
• Extend creative ideas across touchpoints, balancing consistency with the needs of each audience, channel, and moment.
• Contribute to briefs, creative approaches, and go-to-market narratives by bringing a clear perspective on the customer, the product, and the business challenge.
• Research unfamiliar subjects, work closely with subject matter experts, and build deep product understanding to communicate with accuracy and confidence.
• Present creative thinking to internal partners and stakeholders, articulate the rationale behind the work, and respond constructively to feedback.
• Maintain a high bar for writing craft; give and receive thoughtful feedback that strengthens the work of creative partners.
• Support the development of junior writers and freelancers through collaboration, critique, and knowledge sharing.
• Organize multiple assignments, timelines, and feedback streams while maintaining strong judgment, attention to detail, and momentum in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in copywriting, brand writing, advertising, editorial, content design, or a related creative discipline; experience in an agency or in-house creative studio environment preferred.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, brand voice, and polished execution across multiple formats and channels.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complex subjects clear, engaging, and emotionally resonant.
• Strong conceptual thinker who can develop a range of ideas and connect creative decisions to broader objectives.
• Experience writing for integrated, cross-functional initiatives from early concepting through final production.
• Collaborative, trusted partner who is comfortable working with designers and creative teams, as well as product, marketing, communications, legal, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Comfortable moving between creative development, messaging work, and detail-oriented production copy.
• Open to direction and skilled at incorporating feedback from creative leadership.
• Relentlessly curious, proactive, and willing to dig beneath the surface to understand the customer, the product, and the problem.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Strong presentation, communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
• Able to give and receive feedback with candor, empathy, and a focus on making the work, and the team, better.
• Experience with automotive, mobility, technology, sustainability, or mission-driven brands is a plus.

• The salary range for this role is $78,700 to $98,400 for Irvine, California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
• The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
